Roberto Rojas
Roberto Antonio Rojas Saavedra (born 8 August 1957), nicknamed El Cóndor, is a retired Chilean football goalkeeper. In 1989, he deliberately injured himself during a World Cup qualifying match in an attempt to avoid a loss by the Chile national team. The incident resulted in a lifetime ban for Rojas and one World Cup ban for Chile. His ban was subsequently lifted in 2001. Playing career Rojas was born and raised in the capital Santiago. He began his career in 1976 with Deportes Aviación and went on to play for Colo-Colo from 1983 until 1987. With Colo-Colo, Rojas won national titles in 1983 and 1986. In 1987, after a successful performance in the Copa América, he transferred to Brazil's São Paulo where he remained until 1989. Coaching career After his retirement he returned to São Paulo to serve as a goalkeeper coach, training Rogério Ceni. Roberto Rojas Herrera (25 November 1966 – 17 October 2022) was a Bolivian accountant, politician, and trade unionist who served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies from La Paz, representing circumscription 15 from 2010 to 2015. A member of the Movement for Socialism, Rojas entered political activity as a member of El Alto's neighborhood councils, serving as secretary of sports for the city's San Pablo Zone before presiding over the District 3 council from 2000 to 2009. One rung above, he served as secretary of organization of the Federation of Neighborhood Councils from 2008 to 2010. The organization's alliance with the Movement for Socialism facilitated Rojas' entry into the Chamber of Deputies. Following his tenure in the legislature, he returned to El Alto, briefly serving as regional manager of the state-owned water and sanitation company before finally retiring from public life. Roberto Rojas González (born 17 November 1974 in Madrid) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a right back. Football career Rojas graduated from Real Madrid's youth academy, and played in five matches with the first team during the 1998–99 season. His La Liga debut occurred on 14 November 1998, coming on as a substitute for Christian Panucci at the hour-mark of an eventual 1–2 home loss against Celta de Vigo. Roja's most successful period was lived at Málaga CF, for whom he signed in the summer of 1999. He appeared in 32 games in his first year, helping the Andalusians retain their recently acquired top flight status, and went on to feature for the side that conquered the 2002 UEFA Intertoto Cup, but only played in 20 league matches in his last two campaigns combined.
