Robert McClelland (American Politician)
Robert McClelland (August 1, 1807 – August 30, 1880) was an American politician, statesman, serving as U.S. Representative from Michigan, the ninth governor of Michigan, and United States Secretary of the Interior. Early life in Pennsylvania He was born in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, the son of a prominent Franklin County, Pennsylvania, Franklin County doctor. He entered Dickinson College at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and graduated among the top of his class in 1829. He studied law and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar association, bar in 1831 and practiced law in Pittsburgh for a short time before moving in 1833 to Monroe, Michigan, Monroe in what was then the Michigan Territory, Territory of Michigan. Robert Howard McClelland
Robert Howard McClelland (born November 2, 1933) is a former broadcaster, journalist and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Langley in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1972 to 1986 as a member of the Social Credit Party. Early life and career McClelland was born and educated in Calgary, Alberta. He moved to British Columbia as a driver for a furniture moving company. Later he worked as a broadcaster for radio station CHQM, as publisher of the ''Fraser Valley News Herald'' and as publisher of a monthly country and western music newspaper. He served as an alderman in Langley from 1969 to 1972. Provincial politics In 1972, McClelland was elected to the Legislative Assembly of B.C. under the banner of the Social Credit Party.
