Robert Melvin Fleming (17 March 1845 – 31 July 1933) was a Scottish financier and philanthropist. He was the founder of merchant bank Robert Fleming & Co. Early life Robert Fleming was born in 1845 in Dundee. His father was an overseer in a jute mill. Career Fleming got his start at the age of 13 working for local textile firm, Messrs Edward Baxter and Son. By 21, he was Edward Baxter's private clerk. In time, Fleming had learned enough about investment procedures from Baxter to oversee the firm's American holdings. Fleming launched the Scottish American Investment Company in 1873, the first of the Scottish investment trusts. He went on to become an international financier in London, establishing the investment bank that bore his name for more than a century and out of which the Fleming Collection of Scottish art and the Fleming Collection Gallery was born. Robert Fleming is an American journalist and writer of erotic fiction and horror fiction. He is also a contributing editor for '' Black Issues Book Review''. He began writing in the early 1970s while studying full-time for a degree in psychology at a local college. His first writing job was in 1977 as an associate editor at ''Encore Magazine'', a pioneering black newsmagazine that dealt with current events, and hard journalism. Biography Fleming was born at Fort Robinson in Nebraska on January 13, 1907, to Augusta and Robert John Fleming, an 1891 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. As a military dependent, he attended three different high schools and graduated with honors at the age of fifteen. Fleming then studied at the Phillips Exeter Academy for two years before entering the U.S. Military Academy in July 1924. Robert Flemming (died 1456), was dean of Lincoln. Background Robert Flemming, born in the diocese of York, was likely an illegitimate son of Robert Flemming, esquire, of Wath, near Ripon (d.1459). His aunt, Cecily Fleming, married, in 1407, Robert Waterton, ' Henry IV's esquire and right-hand man'. His uncle, Richard Fleming (d.1431), was Bishop of Lincoln and the founder of Lincoln College, Oxford. He was probably connected with the earlier days of the college, the foundation of which was left by his uncle in an incomplete and unfinished state. At any rate, he displayed afterwards his care for this society by some valuable presents. Rob Fleming (born November 11, 1971) is a Canadian politician who sat in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 2005 provincial election, when he defeated one-term Liberal Party incumbent, Sheila Orr, until 2024. Initially representing Victoria-Hillside, he was re-elected in subsequent elections in the renamed constituency of Victoria-Swan Lake. A member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP), he was named to the cabinet of British Columbia in July 2017 as Minister of Education, before assuming the post as Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure in November 2020, serving in that position until 2024. Prior to entering provincial politics, he was a city councillor in Victoria, British Columbia from 1999 to 2005. Robert Loren Fleming (born November 5, 1956) is an American comic book writer. He is best known as the co-creator of '' Thriller'' with Trevor Von Eeden and for his collaborations with Keith Giffen. Career Robert Loren Fleming worked for DC Comics initially as a proofreader and later as a writer. His first published comics story was "String-Out" in '' House of Mystery'' #316 (May 1983). He and artist Trevor Von Eeden created '' Thriller'' in 1983. Fleming left the series as of its seventh issue due to difficulties with DC Comics' management.
