Robert's Western World Interior
Robert's was a department store based in Long Beach, California. The chain began when Morris Burman opened the first store in East Los Angeles. In 1950, Burman bought an existing store in North Long Beach at 5350 Long Beach Blvd., and opened it as the Jones Department Store. In 1951, they opened Robert's at 16630 Bellflower Blvd. in Bellflower. It had branches in: *Bixby Knolls, Long Beach - opened December 1967, 52,000 sq. ft., 4450 Atlantic Ave., closed in 1994, empty for 15 years, razed only in 2009 to make way for a new Marshall's. California State Route 19
State Route 19 (SR 19) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California, running along Lakewood Boulevard and Rosemead Boulevard in the Los Angeles area. An additional "hidden" state highway, State Route 164 (SR 164), is also signed as part of SR 19, despite having a legal description separate from Route 19. The combined route is a north–south four-to-six lane suburban roadway, lying east of the Long Beach Freeway (Interstate 710) and west of the San Gabriel River Freeway ( Interstate 605), and connecting the eastern parts of Long Beach and Pasadena via the Whittier Narrows. Under their legal descriptions, SR 19 runs north to Gallatin Road in Pico Rivera, then SR 164 goes from Gallatin Road to Pasadena. Eastland Center, formerly Westfield Eastland/Eastland Shopping Center, is a shopping center in West Covina, California, currently managed by Pine Tree, LLC. Westfield America, Inc., a precursor to Westfield Group, acquired the shopping center in 1998 and renamed it "Westfield Shoppingtown Eastland", dropping the "Shoppingtown" name in June 2005. Once a fashionable department store-anchored regional shopping mall, in 1997 it was converted to a power center as the nearby Plaza at West Covina became the dominant area center. Honer Plaza, now the Bristol Marketplace, at 17th and Bristol streets in northwestern Santa Ana, California, was one of the first shopping centers in Orange County, California and one of the busiest in the county in its early days. Plans were announced for its construction in 1953 and it opened in 1958, starting with a Ralphs supermarket. Other anchor tenants over the 1950s-1980s included Montgomery Ward (which opened on August 11, 1960 and closed along with the entire chain due to bankruptcy in early 2001), Long Beach-based Robert's department store, Nahas department store, and J. J. Newberry.
