Road To Reality
''Road to Reality'' was a half-hour American daytime television show that aired on ABC from October 17, 1960 to March 31, 1961, at 2:30pm EST. The daily program dramatized group therapy sessions that were apparently written from transcripts of actual sessions. The show was ABC's first daytime drama, and the first to bring psychoanalysis to daytime television. The show starred John Beal as the moderator of the group, Dr. Lewis, and was announced by Joel Crager. The five (later six) patients were played by professional actors. Issues that the patients discussed included fear of intimacy, and shyness. John Beal (actor)
John Beal (born James Alexander Bliedung, August 13, 1909 – April 26, 1997) was an American actor. Early life Beal was born James Alexander Bliedung in Joplin, Missouri. His father had a department store and Beal went to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania "mapped for a commercial career." While at Wharton, Beal (who enrolled under his real name, James Alexander Bliedung) spent time drawing cartoons for the school's humor magazine and singing in productions of the Mask and Wig club. Stage Soon after graduating from college in 1930, Beal began acting with the Hedgerow Theatre. Beal originally went to New York to study at the Art Students League of New York. Mary Eugenia Rawls (September 11, 1913 — November 8, 2000) was an American actress. Biography Rawls was born in Macon, Georgia on September 11, 1913, and lived with her grandmother and two aunts for most of her early life. She made her stage debut at age 4 in a local production of ''Madame Butterfly'' and later attended Wesleyan College in Macon. She moved to New York City and made her Broadway debut in 1934 as Peggy Rogers in Lillian Hellman's '' The Children's Hour''. Her best-known role came in 1939 as Tallulah Bankhead's character Regina Gidden's daughter, Alexandra, in ''The Little Foxes''.
