Road To Life (1955 Film)
''Road to Life'' (, translit. Pedagogicheskaya poema) is a 1955 Soviet biographical drama film directed by Aleksei Maslyukov and Mechislava Mayevskaya and based on the book by Anton Makarenko. It was entered into the 1956 Cannes Film Festival. Plot The story takes place in 1920. The first colony for homeless children, named after Gorky, was established in the village of Rakitnoye near Poltava. The children undergo a challenging journey from homelessness to becoming a cohesive community, overcoming hardships and adversities alongside the adults. Aleksei Maslyukov
Alexey ( ; ), is a Russian and Bulgarian male given name derived from the Greek ''Aléxios'' (), meaning "Defender", and thus of the same origin as the Latin Alexius. Similar Ukrainian and Belarusian names are romanized as Oleksii (Олексій) and Aliaksiej (Аляксей), respectively. Yulian Aleksandrovich Panich (; 23 May 1931 – 9 October 2023) was a Soviet and Russian actor, director, and journalist. He was appointed Honored Artist of Russia in 1996. Biography Yulian Aleksandrovich Panich was born in Kirivigrad/Zinovyevsk on 23 May 1931. After graduating from the Shchukin Acting School in Moscow in 1954, Panich had a successful career of a Soviet film actor. In 1965 he began working as a television and film director. In 1972, Yulian Panich left the Soviet Union for Israel. Later that year he was offered a job in Munich with the Radio Liberty/ Free Europe radio. Soon Panich became chief program producer with the Russian service (Radio Svoboda) and the symbol of anti-Soviet resistance. As such he was the object of special interest by the KGB. Personal life and death After his retirement in 1995, Panich lived in the suburbs of Rambouillet in Paris. Panich was married to Ludmila Zweig from 1956. Alexei Maximovich Peshkov (; – 18 June 1936), popularly known as Maxim Gorky (; ), was a Russian and Soviet writer and proponent of socialism. He was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Before his success as an author, he travelled widely across the Russian Empire, changing jobs frequently; these experiences would later influence his writing. He associated with fellow Russian writers Leo Tolstoy and Anton Chekhov, both mentioned by Gorky in his memoirs. Gorky was active in the emerging Marxist socialist movement and later supported the Bolsheviks. He publicly opposed the Tsarist regime and for a time closely associated himself with Vladimir Lenin and Alexander Bogdanov's Bolshevik wing of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. Pavel Petrovich Kadochnikov (; – 2 May 1988) was a Soviet and Russian actor, film director, screenwriter and pedagogue. He was named People's Artist of the USSR in 1979 and Hero of Socialist Labour in 1985. Biography Pavel Kadochnikov was born in Petrograd in 1915. In 1927, he entered a children's artistic studio, dreaming to become a professional artist, but, because of the severe illness of his father, Pavel, as the elder in the family, was forced to become the apprentice to a metal craftsman. However, he continued to study in the studio. In 1929, he entered the actor's department of theatrical school of TYuZ. In 1935, he graduated from Leningrad Theatrical Institute and until 1944 was an actor in Leningrad's New TYuZ. He began to act in the cinema in 1935.
