A rite of passage is a ceremony or ritual of the passage which occurs when an individual leaves one group to enter another. It involves a significant change of social status, status in society. In cultural anthropology the term is the Anglicisation of ''rite de passage'', a French term innovated by the Ethnography, ethnographer Arnold van Gennep in his work ''Les rites de passage'', ''The Rites of Passage''. The term is now fully adopted into anthropology as well as into the literature and popular cultures of many modern languages. Original conception In English, Van Gennep's first sentence of his first chapter begins: "Each larger society contains within it several distinctly separate groupings. ... In addition, all these groups break down into still smaller societies in subgroups." The population of a society belongs to multiple groups, some more important to the individual than others. ''Ethnicity'' is the eleventh studio album by Yanni, released on February 11, 2003 by Virgin Records. It peaked at #27 on Billboard's "Top Internet Albums" chart and at #27 on the " ''Billboard'' 200" chart in 2003. It also peaked at #1 on the "Top New Age Albums" chart in 2004. Background ''Ethnicity'' features greater use of vocals, percussion, and exotic rhythms, which were influenced by Yanni's period of travel during his hiatus between 1998 and 2000. As Yanni is unable to read music, he wrote and recorded demos of the album's tracks at his home studio in Florida, after which he employed transcribers and copyists to write the individual parts for the session musicians. Reception Backroads Music/Heartbeats wrote that the album was musically quite diverse, stating that "Though Yanni is widely known as one of the most popular purveyors of New-age music, there's actually quite a bit going on here." The fifth season of the American comedy television series ''Scrubs'' premiered on NBC on January 3, 2006 and concluded on May 16, 2006 and consists of 24 episodes. Rite Of Passage (29 March 2004 – May 2023) was a British-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the Ascot Gold Cup and being named Cartier Racing Award for European Champion Stayer in 2010. His career was unusual in the fact that he established himself as a high-class performer under National Hunt rules before moving to flat-racing. His win in the Gold Cup came in his third start under flat rules. Background Rite Of Passage was bred by the Hertfordshire-based Newsells Park Stud. He was sired by the European Horse of the Year Giant's Causeway out of the mare Dahlia's Krissy. After retiring to stud in 2001 Giant's Causeway sired the winners of more than three hundred races, including 26 at Group One/Grade I level. His best winners include Shamardal, Aragorn and Eskendereya. Dahlia's Krissy was a winner in the United States and a granddaughter of the Champion racemare Dahlia. ''TNT'' covers often portrayed Trans Identities or Art and the back covers were usually a piece of graphic art with a thought provoking theme. ''TNT'' originally was published as ''Rites of Passage'', the official publication of the New Womens Conference, with Anne Ogborn as the editor. It began as a magazine for the then nascent post op movement. After two issues the magazine came under the editorship of Gail Sondegaard, changed its name to ''Transsexual News Telegraph'', and ceased being officially tied to the New Womens Conference.
