Rise (2022 Film)
''Rise'' is a 2022 biographical sports drama film directed by Akin Omotoso, from a script written by Arash Amel. Based on the true story of four young Nigerian-Greek brothers, Giannis, Thanasis, Alex and Kostas Antetokounmpo, who emigrate to the United States and rise to fame and success within the National Basketball Association. The film stars newcomers Uche Agada, Ral Agada, and Jaden Osimuwa, Dharen from Kisugu in the three primary roles; with Elijah Shomanke, Yetide Badaki, and Dayo Okeniyi in supporting family roles. ''Rise'' was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and released as a Disney+ original film on June 24, 2022. It received generally positive reviews from critics. Akin Omotoso
Akin Omotoso (born 1974) is a Nigerian film director, writer, and actor. He is best known for directing the 2022 film '' Rise''. Both his father Kole Omotoso and his sister Yewande Omotoso are also writers. Early life and education Omotoso was born in Nigeria, where he grew up in Ile Ife, Osun State. His family emigrated to South Africa in 1992 after his father, Kole Omotoso, took an academic appointment with the University of the Western Cape. Akin Omotoso studied at the University of Cape Town, obtaining a diploma in speech and drama. His mother died in 2003. Career Omotoso ventured into entertainment while at the university. His acting debut was in ''Sunjata'' by Mark Fleishman. This also earned Omotoso a Fleur du Cap Award for Most Promising Student in 1995. John Hammond (born July 19, 1954) is an American professional basketball executive who is the senior advisor to the president of basketball operations of the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
