Ringland, Newport
Ringland is a Community (Wales), community (civil parish) and electoral ward of the city of Newport, Wales, Newport, South Wales. The community is bounded by Ringland Way to the east, the southern boundary of Llanwern High School to the south, Balfe Rd, Aberthaw Rd, Ringland Circle, Ringwood Avenue, across Chepstow Rd, Mountbatten close and behind Chiltern Close and Glanwern Grove to the west and the M4 motorway to the north. Most of the houses and flats and shopping centre were built by the local council during the 1950s and 1960s, most of houses have generous sized gardens. Ringland is close to junction 24 of the motorway also 12 minutes drive from Newport Railway Station. Ringland has green spaces around the area including Ringland Wood run by the Woodland Trust. Plans were announced in 2017 to demolish maisonettes in Ringland Centre and Cot Farm and replace them with modern homes, designed to a masterplan by Powell Dobson architects and developed by Newport City Homes. Ringland, Norfolk
Ringland is a village and civil parish in Norfolk, England, and in the valley of the River Wensum, approximately north-west of Norwich. Parts of the Wensum valley within the parish constitute a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Ringland had a 2021 population of 236, in an area of . The villages name means 'land of Rymi's people'. The parish church of St Peter's has a 13th-century tower and a 14th-15th century nave and chancel. The higher terrain of Ringland Hills lies within the parish to the east of the village and north of the Wensum, and are thought to be a glacial terminal moraine, much the same as Cromer ridge. Arthur Cuming Ringland
Arthur Ringland (September 29, 1882 – October 12, 1981) is known as the principal founder of CARE, a humanitarian organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. Career Ringland began his lifelong government career in 1900 when he joined the U.S. Forest Service where he helped establish the national park and national forest system. Between 1900 and 1945, Arthur Ringland led a variety of government programs that ranged from conservation work to refugee relief. In 1945, he originated the concept of the private voluntary organization that became CARE. A principal aspect of that work was persuading the government to provide ships to transport food packages that had been donated for the needy in Europe. He thus became known as "the father of CARE," and was honored for his efforts by the United Nations in 1958. Ringland was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 29, 1882. Trevor Ringland
Trevor Maxwell Ringland, (born 13 November 1959) is a Northern Irish solicitor, former rugby union player and unionist politician. From June 2013 to July 2014, he served as co-chairman of the NI Conservatives. After attending Larne Grammar School, he read law at Queen's University Belfast. He is a spokesperson for the unionist campaign group Uniting UK. Rugby career Ringland made 31 competitive appearances for , scoring nine tries. The majority of his appearances came in the Five Nations, with the remainder coming in the 1987 Rugby World Cup. He also represented Ulster and Ballymena. In 1983 he toured New Zealand with the British & Irish Lions. Since retirement, he has coached at Ballymena and been a committee member of the Irish Rugby Football Union. In his later years he joined Belfast Club CIYMS where he played for the golden oldies 4th xv, known as the Dream Team, consisting of former senior players.
