Right To Kill
''Right to Kill'' is the eighth studio album by the British power electronics band Whitehouse, released in 1983 through Come Organisation. It was released as a special limited edition album, with only approximately 300 copies made on vinyl formats. Because of this, the recording has never been reissued since, for the band feels that it would be of great importance to "preserve its original intent", although numerous bootleg copies of the album have been made. The record is sometimes known by its full title ''Right to Kill, Dedicated to Dennis Andrew Nilsen''. It was also the band's first release to feature contributions from Kevin Tomkins, who had formed his own power electronics project Sutcliffe Jügend a year previously. Whitehouse (band)
Whitehouse were an English band formed in 1980, largely credited for the founding of the power electronics subgenre of industrial music. History and personnel The name Whitehouse was chosen both in mock tribute to the British morality campaigner Mary Whitehouse, and in reference to a British pornographic magazine of the same name. The group's founding member and sole constant was William Bennett. He began as a guitarist for Essential Logic. He wrote of those early years, "I often fantasised about creating a sound that could bludgeon an audience into submission." Bennett later recorded as Come (featuring contributions from the likes of Daniel Miller and J. G. Thirlwell) before forming Whitehouse in 1980. Power electronics is a style of noise music that typically consists of static, screeching waves of feedback, analogue synthesizers making sub-bass pulses or high frequency squealing sounds; with (sometimes) screamed and distorted vocals. Come Organisation
Come Organisation was a record label started by William Bennett in 1979 as a way to release albums by his own band, Come, when he was unable to find a label willing to release them. It is best known for releasing the work of Bennett's subsequent band, Whitehouse. The label's first release was the Come single "Come Sunday/Shaved Slits" in 1979. When Bennett dissolved Come in 1980 to form Whitehouse, Come Organisation continued to release his work, serving as the label for all of Whitehouse's albums from its inception through 1985's '' Great White Death''. In addition, Bennett began to release albums by other controversial or extreme groups, including Sutcliffe Jugend, Maurizio Bianchi, Nurse With Wound and even Charles Manson. When Whitehouse went on hiatus at the end of 1985, Come Organisation was dissolved. ''Psychopathia Sexualis'' is the seventh album by Whitehouse released in 1982 on the Come Organisation label. It was on the liner notes for the album that principal member William Bennett first used the term " Power electronics" to describe the group's music. Overview ''Psychopathia Sexualis'' returns to the theme of serial killers, the subject of most of the songs. Every song title bearing the name of serial killer opens with a spoken introduction, detailing the profile of the serial killer. The introductions are spoken in Spanish, except "Edward Paisnel" spoken in Catalan. While the songs continue to utilize the high pitched feedback known in most albums during the Come Organisation era, the album pursues a diverse sound. ''Great White Death'' is the ninth studio album by power electronics band Whitehouse, released in February 1985. It was the last Whitehouse record to be released through Come Organization, a label which dissolved after the band went on hiatus after the record's release. The album was reissued on CD format in 1991 through the band's new label, Susan Lawly. A special edition was issued in 1997 which came with a bonus track, an extended version of the song "My Cock Is On Fire". In 2010, a vinyl reissue of the album was released through Very Friendly. Dennis Nilsen
Dennis Andrew Nilsen (23 November 1945 – 12 May 2018) was a Scottish serial killer and Necrophilia, necrophile who murdered at least twelve young men and boys between 1978 and 1983 in London. Convicted at the Old Bailey of six counts of murder and two of attempted murder, Nilsen was sentenced to life imprisonment on 4 November 1983, with a recommendation that he serve a minimum of 25 years. This recommendation was later changed to a whole life tariff in December 1994. In his later years, Nilsen was imprisoned at Full Sutton (HM Prison), Full Sutton maximum security prison. Philip Neil Best (born 15 June 1968) is an English industrial musician, visual artist, and author. A pioneer of power electronics, he formed the band Consumer Electronics in 1982 at age 14. Best joined the group Whitehouse, in 1983. After a nine-year hiatus starting in 1984, Best rejoined and remained with the group until departing again in 2008. Career Music In the early 1980s, Best also ran his own DIY label Iphar, releasing compilations of power electronics.
