"Right Now" is a song written by the group Van Halen for their album '' For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge''. The song reflects on living for the moment and not being afraid of making a change. Writing and composition According to guitarist Eddie Van Halen, the instrumental dates back to 1983, "before I wrote " Jump" – it didn't come out until about '92, '93 or something like that, cause nobody wanted anything to do with it." An early version of the melody appears in the 1984 movie '' The Wild Life'' which was scored by Eddie. Eddie also stated that before vocalist Sammy Hagar was hired to replace David Lee Roth, he considered an album that would feature various guest singers, with Joe Cocker assigned to "Right Now". Carolyn Ann Mayer-Beug (December 11, 1952 – September 11, 2001) was a filmmaker and video producer from Santa Monica, California, Santa Monica, California. She died in the September 11 attacks as a passenger of the American Airlines Flight 11. Michael Anthony Sobolewski (born June 20, 1954) is an American musician who was the bassist and backing vocalist for the hard rock band Van Halen from 1974 to 2006. He performed on Van Halen's first 11 albums and was their longest-tenured bassist. Following his 2006 departure, Anthony has collaborated with fellow former Van Halen bandmate Sammy Hagar for the supergroups Chickenfoot and Sammy Hagar and the Circle. In addition to his music career, he markets a line of hot sauces named Mad Anthony and related products. Anthony was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen in 2007.
