Right Now (Della Reese Album)
''Right Now'' is a studio album by American singer, Della Reese. It was released by Avco Embassy Records in November 1970 and was her second album with the record label. The LP was a collection of ten tracks, featuring mostly cover recordings of popular songs from the time period in which it was released. It received promotion via a tour of the United States. Two singles were also featured on the album: "Simple Song of Freedom" and "Billy My Love". The album received a positive review from ''Billboard'', who named it a "Special Merit Pick" in their late 1970 review. Della Reese
Della Reese (born Delloreese Patricia Early; July 6, 1931 – November 19, 2017) was an American singer, actress, television personality, author and ordained minister. As a singer, she recorded blues, gospel, jazz and pop. Several of her singles made the US Hot 100, including the number two charting song, " Don't You Know?" (1959). As a television personality and actress, she was the first black woman to host her own talk show and appeared on the highly-rated CBS television series '' Touched by an Angel''. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Reese sang in her church's choir and was discovered by gospel entertainer, Mahalia Jackson, who took Reese on tour for several years. ''Record World'' magazine was one of three major weekly music industry trade magazines in the United States, with ''Billboard'' and '' Cashbox''. It was founded in 1946 as ''Music Vendor''. In 1964, it was changed to ''Record World'' under the ownership of Sid Parnes and Bob Austin. It ceased publication on April 10, 1982. Unidisc Music is a Canadian independent record label. The label is known for releasing rare music, that was made between the mid-1960s and late 1980s. Sammy Lowe (May 14, 1918, Birmingham, Alabama – February 17, 1993, Birmingham) was an American trumpeter, arranger, and conductor. Career Lowe was active both in jazz and in R&B music, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s. From the 1930s to the late 1950s, he arranged music and played trumpet for the Erskine Hawkins Orchestra. He is present on many recordings of Erskine. He also recorded with alto saxophonist Bobby Smith and made arrangements for Dud Bascomb. Michel Legrand
Michel Jean Legrand (; 24 February 1932 – 26 January 2019) was a French musical composer, arranger, conductor, jazz pianist, and singer. Legrand was a prolific composer, having written over 200 film and television scores, in addition to many songs. His scores for two of the films of French New Wave director Jacques Demy, '' The Umbrellas of Cherbourg'' (1964) and '' The Young Girls of Rochefort'' (1967), earned Legrand his first Academy Award nominations. Alan Bergman (born September 11, 1925) and Marilyn Keith Bergman (née Katz; November 10, 1928 – January 8, 2022) were an American songwriting duo. Married from 1958 until Marilyn's death, together they wrote music and lyrics for numerous celebrated television, film, and stage productions. "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" is a song with lyrics written by Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman and original music written by Michel Legrand for the 1969 film ''The Happy Ending'', performed by Michael Dees. The song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song but lost out to "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head". The same title was used 25 years earlier by Ted Koehler and Burton Lane for their song for the 1944 film '' Hollywood Canteen''. A Ted Weems recording of 1938 also has an identical title. Glenn Douglas Tubb (June 29, 1935 – May 22, 2021) was an American songwriter from San Antonio, Texas. He was a nephew of Ernest Tubb and married to Dottie Snow Tubb. Biography The song "Skip a Rope" written by him and Jack Moran, performed by Henson Cargill was nominated for a Grammy in 1969. Glenn Douglas Tubb is a nephew of Ernest Tubb and performed at The Ernest Tubb Record Shop Texas Troubadour Theater Midnite Jamboree.
