Riga
Riga ( ) is the capital, Primate city, primate, and List of cities and towns in Latvia, largest city of Latvia. Home to 591,882 inhabitants (as of 2025), the city accounts for a third of Latvia's total population. The population of Riga Planning Region, Riga metropolitan area, which stretches beyond the city limits, is estimated at 847,162 (as of 2025). The city lies on the Gulf of Riga at the mouth of the Daugava (river), Daugava river where it meets the Baltic Sea. Riga's territory covers and lies above sea level on a flat and sandy plain. FK Rīga
FK Rīga was a Latvian football club based in Riga. They played in the Virslīga, the top division in Latvian football. They played their home games at Latvijas Universitātes Stadions. In 1999, its first year of existence, the club won the Latvian Cup, beating Skonto at the final. The club also played in the UEFA Cup. In 2007, FK Rīga achieved its best result in Virslīga so far by finishing 3rd as the highest placed club from Riga. FK Rīga played in the 2008 Intertoto Cup. Their first round opponents were Fylkir from suburban Árbær in the eastern part of Reykjavík. In the second round. they played Irish club Bohemian and, as against Fylkir, the home leg was played in the city of Liepāja, approximately 217 kilometres from Riga. At the end of the 2007–08 season the club went bankrupt due to its financial problems and the football school, that was in the club's system, joined FK Olimps/ASK (later known as RFS/Olimps). Riga Mustapha
Rahamat Riga Mustapha (born 10 October 1981) is a former professional footballer who last played as a striker for Pune F.C. in the Indian I-League. Born in Ghana, he represented the Netherlands at youth level. Club career Born in Accra, Ghana, Mustapha began his career with Eredivisie side Vitesse as a youth and senior player. While with the Vitesse youth team, Mustapha actually worked under his future head coach at Sparta Rotterdam and Pune, Mike Snoei. He also went out on loan to RBC Roosendaal while with Vitesse. He then left Vitesse in 2003 to sign for Sparta Rotterdam in the Eerste Divisie. In his two seasons at Sparta, Mustapha scored a total of 30 goals. In 2005, Mustapha left Sparta Rotterdam and the Netherlands to sign for Levante UD of the Segunda División on a free transfer. The Rural Income Generating Activities (RIGA) Project is a collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Bank, and American University (Washington, DC) that seeks to contribute to the understanding of the income generating activities, both agricultural and non-agricultural, of rural households in developing countries. The RIGA project achieves this by two means. First, through the development of an innovative database of income sources from various developing countries, which is available free of charge to researchers via the project’s website. Second, by producing studies and publications that use the database to analyze pressing economic and policy issues. 1796 Riga, provisional designation , is a dark asteroid from the outer region of the asteroid belt, approximately 70 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 16 May 1966, by Russian astronomer Nikolai Chernykh at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in Nauchnyj, on the Crimean peninsula. It is named after the Latvian capital Riga. Orbit and classification The asteroid orbits the Sun in the outer main-belt at a distance of 3.2–3.5 AU once every 6 years and 2 months (2,247 days). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.06 and an inclination of 23 ° with respect to the ecliptic. Riga Vanderer (sometimes written as Wanderer, in later years – Rīgas Vilki, also – RV) was a Latvian football club that was founded in 1927, disbanded in 1940, restored a year later and disbanded again in 1944. HK Riga 2000
HK Riga 2000 was an ice hockey team based in Riga, Latvia. The team had played in the LHL since it was founded. In 2004-05 and 2005–06 seasons the club also iced a team in the Belarusian Hockey League, and in 2005-06 finished 3rd.
