Gerhard V of Jülich (before 1250 – 29 July 1328), Count of Jülich (1297–1328), was the youngest son of William IV, Count of Jülich and Richardis of Guelders, daughter of Gerard III, Count of Guelders.Walther Möller, ''Stammtafeln westdeutscher Adelsgeschlechter im Mittelalter'' (Darmstadt, 1922, reprint Verlag Degener & Co., 1995), Vol. 1, page 14. Otto IV (January 3, 1307 – December 14, 1334 in Munich) was a Duke of Lower Bavaria. Family He was a son of Stephen I, Duke of Bavaria and Jutta of Świdnica, Schweidnitz. His maternal grandparents were Bolko I, Duke of Jawor and Świdnica and Beatrix of Brandenburg. Bolko was a son of Bolesław II the Bald and his first wife Hedwig of Anhalt. Stephen I. (March 14, 1271 – December 10, 1310) was the duke of Lower Bavaria from 1290 until 1310 as co-regnant of his older brothers Otto III († 1312) and Louis III († 1296). Biography Stephen was born in Landshut, the son of Henry XIII, Duke of Bavaria and Elizabeth of Hungary. His maternal grandparents were Béla IV of Hungary and Maria Laskarina. His mother introduced the name Stephen onto the Wittelsbach dynasty with her youngest son. She was a sister of Stephen V of Hungary, and may have named her son after him. To reduce the influence of the Wittelsbach, Pope Nicholas IV refused his spiritual career in Salzburg and Stephen became a co-regnant of his brothers. During the absence of Otto III in Hungary 1305-1308, Stephen was the only governing duke of Lower Bavaria. There have been three kinds of Bavarian consorts in history: duchesses, electresses and queens. Most consorts listed are duchesses. The first ever consort of Bavaria was Waldrada in the 6th century. The final consort was Maria Theresa of Austria-Este (1849–1919), Maria Theresia of Austria-Este in 1913. The longest serving house was the Wittelsbach dynasty, who played a major role in Bavarian history. During the medieval period under the Wittelsbach dynasty, Bavaria was split into two parts, Upper and Lower Bavaria. This meant that there may have been more than one Duchess of Bavaria at the same time, due to messy inheritance among heirs. Three of the break-away Wittelsbach families were: Landshut, Munich and Ingolstadt. Since 555 there have been 99 Bavarian consorts: 78 duchesses, 11 queens, 10 electresses and one margravine.
