Richard Powers (born June 18, 1957) is an American novelist whose works explore the effects of modern science and technology. Tom Keene (born George Duryea; December 30, 1896 – August 4, 1963) was an American actor known mostly for his roles in B Westerns. During his almost 40-year career in motion pictures Tom Keene worked under three different names. From 1923, when he made his first picture, until 1930 he worked under his birth name, George Duryea. The last film he made under this name was '' Pardon My Gun''. Beginning with the 1930 film ''Tol'able David'', he used Tom Keene as his moniker. This name he used until 1944 when he changed it to Richard Powers. The first film he used this name in was '' Up in Arms''. He continued to primarily use this name for the rest of his film career, though still used Tom Keene on occasion. Richard Powers (unionist)
Richard Powers (c.1844 – May 11, 1929) was an Irish-born American labor union leader. Powers was born in Ireland, and emigrated to the United States in 1861, settling in New York City. He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War, then relocated to Chicago. He became a sailor, working on the Great Lakes, and in 1877, he was a founding member of a union for lumber unloaders. This inspired him, in 1878, to found the Lake Seamen's Union, becoming its first president. In 1881, Powers was a founding member of the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions (FOTLU), and was elected as its first president, serving a single term. He spent time in Washington DC, lobbying on behalf of seamen. After his presidential term, he remained on the executive of FOTLU until 1885. Richard Francis Powers (October 14, 1930 – July 31, 1998) was an American professional basketball referee in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1956 to 1979. He worked 25 NBA Finals games, including the triple-overtime Game 5 contest in the 1976 NBA Finals between the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics, considered "the greatest game ever played" in the NBA, as well as three All-Star Games. Richard Powers (born November 30, 1970) is a former running back in the National Football League (NFL) for the Cleveland Browns and a former University of Michigan Wolverines football co-captain. In the NFL, he had a brief career with the Browns during their final season before they relocated to become the Baltimore Ravens. His career ended due to being lost in the shuffle when the Browns moved to Baltimore and changed coaching staffs.
