Richard Lucas (priest)
Richard Lucas (1648/1649 – 29 June 1715) was a Welsh clergyman and writer of devotional works. Life Lucas was born at Presteigne, Radnorshire. He was educated at Jesus College, Oxford, matriculating there on 3 March 1665 at the age of 16. He obtained his B.A. in 1668 and his M.A. in 1672. He was appointed a Fellow of the college in 1671, holding this position until 1684. He was, for a time, master of the school at Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. After his ordination, his first major publication was ''Practical Christianity'' (1677), containing prayers and discussion on Christian living. This was a popular work and, coupled with his ability as a preacher, seems to have helped him to be appointed as rector of St. Stephen Coleman Street in 1678. He became lecturer of St Olave, Southwark, in 1683. Whilst his weak eyesight soon failed completely, he nonetheless wrote ''Enquiry after Happiness'' (1685), his most famous work. Richard Cockle Lucas
Richard Cockle Lucas (24 October 1800 – 18 May 1883) was a British sculptor and photographer. Career Lucas was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, the son of Richard Lucas and his wife, Martha Sutton (who died shortly after childbirth). At the age of twelve, he was apprenticed to an uncle who was a cutler at Winchester, where his ability at carving knife handles revealed his skill as a sculptor. He moved to London, aged 21, and studied at the Royal Academy Schools. From 1828, he was a regular contributor to the Royal Academy, receiving silver medals for architectural drawing in 1828 and 1829. His son Albert Dürer was born in 1828 in Bayswater and by 1846 the family was living at Nottingham Place in central London. In 1849, the family moved out of London, probably for health reasons, to Otterbourne, near Winchester, where Lucas may have become a friend of the Victorian children's author, Charlotte Mary Yonge. Richard Lucas (Australian Politician)
Richard James Lucas (1 November 1837 – 17 July 1916) was a politician in colonial Tasmania. Lucas was born at Kingston, Browns River, Tasmania and was educated at the school of the Rev. John Burrows of Brighton, Tasmania, and was admitted a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania, 2 August 1865. Lucas was elected member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly for Electoral district of Kingborough, Kingborough on 20 January 1883, and again in 1886. Lucas accepted office without portfolio in the James Wilson Agnew Ministry on 25 February 1887, but failed to secure re-election, and the Ministry resigned on 29 March 1887. Richard Lucas (Scottish Politician)
The Scottish Family Party (SFP) is a socially conservative political party in Scotland. The SFP formed in 2017. It is led by former UKIP member Richard Lucas. The SFP contested their first seats in the 2019 UK general election, and also fielded candidates at the 2021 Scottish Parliament election and the 2022 Scottish local elections, but has never won any seats. In their annual State of Hate report, the anti-fascism organisation, Hope Not Hate, profiled the SFP in a section on far-right groups in the UK. Richard Lucas (rower)
Richard Saville Clement Lucas (27 July 1896 – 29 May 1968) was a British rower who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics. Lucas was born at St Marylebone London and served in the Royal Artillery during World War I, being a 2nd lieutenant in 1915. After the war he went to Oxford University and was a proficient rower. He was a member of the Leander eight which won the silver medal for Great Britain rowing at the 1920 Summer Olympics, coming within half a length of winning. In 1921, he was a member of the Oxford crew in the Boat Race. He was also five times a member of the winning crew in the Grand Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. Lucas and his wife Rene spent their later years rescuing abandoned boats. In 1947, they rescued the yacht ''Lulworth'' which they mud-berthed and used it as a houseboat. Richard Charles Lucas (born 10 September 1925) is an Anglican evangelical cleric, best known for his long ministry at St Helen's Bishopsgate in London, England, and for his work as founder of the Proclamation Trust and the Cornhill Training Course. Early life Lucas was born on 10 September 1925 in Lewes, Sussex. He attended Radley College. He was converted to evangelical Christianity in 1941 under the camp ministry of E. J. H. Nash. Lucas began university studies at Oxford, but left to serve in the Royal Navy during World War II. After the war, he continued his undergraduate studies at Trinity College, Cambridge (BA 1949, MA 1957). Ordained ministry Lucas completed ordination training at Ridley Hall, and was ordained in the Church of England as a Deacon in 1951, and then as a Priest in 1952. Dick Lucas (January 9, 1934 – April 29, 2020) was an American football player. He played college football at Boston College (1953–1955), military football for the Quantico Marines (1956–1957), and professional football for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1958) and Philadelphia Eagles (1960–1963). Richard John Lucas (born April 15, 1938) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Pennsylvania State University from 1957 to 1959 and professionally in the American Football League (AFL) with the Buffalo Bills from 1960 to 1961 and the Denver Broncos in 1962. Lucas was born in Glassport, Pennsylvania. He is of Russian descent. Dick Lucas (born 1961) is a British vocalist and lyricist of several punk rock bands. He is best known for being a member the British anarcho-punk band Subhumans, and the ska-punk band Citizen Fish that he co-founded in 1990. Biography Lucas started his career as a vocalist in The Mental from March 1979 to August 1980. He then joined the Subhumans in September 1980. With the breakup of Subhumans in the mid 1980s came another band, Culture Shock, from 1986, followed by a short silence from Lucas, after which he co-founded Citizen Fish. In 1995, Lucas's abstract novel Write The Way Up was published (an audio version of which was released in 2012 by Bluurg Records). During early 2010, he contributed a spoken piece about the 7 July 2005 London bombings for Global Parasite's song "Seven Seven".
