Richard Leonard
Richard Leonard (born January 1962) is a British politician who served as Leader of the Scottish Labour Party from 2017 to 2021. He has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP), as one of the additional members for the Central Scotland region, since 2016. He ideologically identifies as a socialist, democrat and internationalist. Born and raised in Yorkshire, Leonard won a scholarship to be educated at Pocklington School. He moved to Scotland in the 1980s to study Politics and Economics at the University of Stirling. Following his graduation, he worked as an aide to Labour politician Alex Falconer before working as a trade unionist for the Scottish Trades Union Congress and GMB Scotland. From 2002 to 2003, he served as Chair of the Scottish Labour Party when he was active in opposing the Iraq War. Richard Lawrence Leonard (12 December 1930 – 24 June 2021) was a British writer, journalist and Labour politician who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Romford from 1970 to 1974. He was a pro-European social democrat and had been a supporter of the late Labour foreign secretary Anthony Crosland, who championed Gaitskellism. Early life and career Leonard was born in Pinner, Middlesex in December 1930, the son of the late Cyril and Kate Leonard (''née'' Whyte). He attended Ealing Grammar School and the Institute of Education, University of London, where he acquired a teacher training qualification (he had been awarded a place to study at the London School of Economics, but lost it after refusing to abide by the stipulation that he complete National Service prior to matriculation). Richard Leonard (born September 2, 1991) is an American professional football defensive back. He played college football at FIU. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans in 2016. Early life Leonard attended Miami Killian High School, where he holds records in football and track and field. College career Leonard committed to FIU on September 30, 2009. With the Panthers, he starred as both a cornerback and kick returner. He was named a first-team All-Conference USA selection at cornerback and punt returner. Professional career Houston Texans Leonard was not selected in the 2016 NFL draft and signed a contract as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans on May 5, 2016. Bowls career Leonard won the Irish National Bowls Championships The Irish National Bowls Championships combines Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
