Richard St John Francis Harris (1 October 1930 – 25 October 2002) was an Irish actor and singer. Having studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, he rose to prominence as an icon of the British New Wave. He received numerous accolades including the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor, and a Grammy Award. In 2020, he was listed at number 3 on ''The Irish Times''s list of Ireland's greatest film actors. Harris received two Academy Award for Best Actor nominations for his performances in ''This Sporting Life'' (1963), and '' The Field'' (1990). Dick Harris (Australian Rules Footballer)
Richard Dennis Harris (21 October 1911 – 30 September 1993) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1934 and 1944 for the Richmond Football Club. Harris played mainly as a rover and was highly successful in front of goals. He also represented Victoria at interstate football, playing a total of nine games for his state including the 1937 Perth Carnival. Early life Born and raised in Warrnambool, he started his playing career with Victoria Ward in the Warrnambool Junior FA in 1927. His father had told him he would get a shilling for every goal he kicked. His first game he kicked seven goals. In 1931 he joined the main town side Warrnambool in the Western District Football League. He kicked 96 goals in his first season and was the league's leading goalkicker. Richard Reader Harris, K.C. (1847 – 25 March 1909) was a prominent English barrister, King's Counsel and Master of the Bench of Gray's Inn, who was also a Methodist minister, founder of the Pentecostal League of Prayer, and author of 34 Christian books. He is particularly remembered as an advocate of British Israelism, the belief that people of Western European descent are also the direct lineal descendants of the Ten Lost Tribes. Richard Tighe Harris (October 31, 1833 – October 11, 1907) was an Irish American miner and prospector. Life Richard Harris was born in Banbridge, County Down, Ireland. He then attended Girard College, a private boarding school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is most famous for co-founding, with Joe Juneau, the city of Juneau, Alaska. The first major gold discovery in Juneau or Douglas Island (across from Juneau) was around 1880. It has been the political capital of Alaska since 1906. His Native American guide in southeastern Alaska was Chief Kowee. Kowee is credited with discovering much of the Juneau area. Richard and Joe were sent with Kowee by George Pilz, an entrepreneur from Sitka. Harris and Juneau traded with the natives much of their grubstake for hoochinoo. Richard Harris (fl. 1558 – 1595) was an academic at the University of Oxford and clergyman in the sixteenth century. Life Harris, from Herefordshire, obtained his B.A. degree from Oxford University on 3 November 1558 and his M.A. degree on 26 June 1562. He was appointed rector of Kentchurch, Herefordshire in 1571 and became a canon of Hereford Cathedral in 1575. He was principal of Brasenose College, Oxford, from 1573/4 to 1595. Richard Harris (born 23 October 1980) is an English former professional footballer who played in the Football League for Crystal Palace and Wycombe Wanderers during the late 1990s and early 2000s. James "Sonny" Harris (October 19, 1914 – November 20, 1990) was an American Negro league outfielder who played in the 1930s and 1940s. A native of Kent, Alabama, Harris was the brother of fellow Negro leaguer Virgil Harris and brother-in-law of Negro leaguer Jesse Houston. He made his Negro leagues debut with the Philadelphia Stars and Baltimore Black Sox in 1934. In 1936, he played with the Cincinnati Tigers and played for the Tigers again the following season. Richard Drew Harris (January 21, 1948 – July 26, 2011) was an American professional football player who was a defensive end who played seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was an All-American in 1970 for Grambling and was selected in the first round (5th overall pick) of the 1971 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, the first defensive player chosen. Harris was named to the NFL All-Rookie team in 1971 and was widely regarded as one of the fastest defensive linemen in professional football before being hobbled by knee injuries. Dickie Harris (born May 24, 1950) is a former all-star defensive back with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
