Lieutenant general (United Kingdom), Lieutenant General Sir Richard John Cripwell, (born 1962) is a former senior British Army Officer (armed forces), officer. He serves as the Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey since 2022. Early life and education Born in 1962 in Newry, Northern Ireland, Cripwell was educated in Dublin, Ireland, and at Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College, Welbeck College. Military career Cripwell was commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1982. Excellency is an honorific style (manner of address), style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy.
