Rheumaptera Hastata
The argent and sable moth (''Rheumaptera hastata'') is a day-flying moth of the family Geometridae, with distinctive black and white colors. They tend to live on wetlands and hillsides. The larvae spin together the leaves of their food plants (such as birch and bog myrtle) to form their cocoons. It was named argent and sable in 1778. Argent and Sable (heraldry), sable refer to the Tincture (heraldry), heraldic color names for white and black. Their distribution is Holarctic. Rheumaptera Undulata
''Rheumaptera undulata'', the scallop shell, is a moth of the family Geometridae. It was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his 1758 10th edition of ''Systema Naturae''. It is found in most of the Palearctic realm and North America. The wingspan is 25–30 mm. The ground colour of the forewings is pale. The crosslines are darker, wavy, evenly spaced and numerous. The outer margin is pale brown with a scalloped fringe. The hindwings resemble the forewings but are paler. The larva is relatively powerful, naked except for some short white bristles.
