The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is elected from single-member electorates called districts, returning 93 members since the 1999 election. Prior to 1927 some districts returned multiple members, including 1920-1927 when all districts returned 3,4 or 5 members. Spence Powell
Arthur Thomas (Spence) Powell (8 August 1903 – 9 July 1970) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1950 until 1962. He was a member of the Labor Party (ALP). Powell was born in Pyrmont, New South Wales, and was the son of a bridge builder. He was educated at Marist Brothers High School Darlinghurst and worked as a fitter for a number of employees including the New South Wales Government Railways. He was an official with the Amalgamated Engineering Union and became involved with community organisations including the Greyhound Racing Association and the board of Bankstown Hospital. Powell was elected as a councillor at Wyong Shire in 1962–5. He was elected to the New South Wales Parliament as the Labor member for the seat of Bankstown at the 1950 state election after the sitting Labor member and Premier James McGirr decided to stand for the new seat of Liverpool. Bill Sheahan (politician)
William Francis Sheahan (3 September 1895 – 27 December 1975) also known as Bill Sheahan or Billy Sheahan, was an Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Early life Born in Tumut, New South Wales, the son of the publicans of the hotel at Jugiong, Sheahan attended schools in Tumut and St Patrick's College, Goulburn. Sheahan gained work as a clerk in the Crown Law Department in 1914 before enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force in 1916, serving in France and Flanders. Following World War I, Sheahan returned to the Crown Law Department, working there until 1930, when he received a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney and established a large criminal law practice. Called to the bar in 1930, Sheahan was made a Queen's Counsel in 1953. Burrinjuck was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales from 1950 to 2015. The 2004 redistribution of electoral districts estimated that the electoral district would have 47,688 electors on 29 April 2007. Abe Landa
Abram Landa (10 November 1902 – 7 October 1989) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1930 until 1932 and from 1941 until 1965. He was variously a member of the Australian Labor Party (NSW) and the Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch). He held a number of ministerial positions between 1953 and 1965. Early and personal life Landa was born in Belfast, Ireland and migrated to Sydney with his widowed mother in 1910. He was educated at Christian Brothers, Waverley and won a scholarship to study law at the University of Sydney. He practiced as a solicitor mainly in Industrial Law and joined the ALP in 1919. John Freeman (Australian Politician)
John Stanley Freeman (11 August 1894 – 4 March 1970) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1945 until 1959 and a member of the Labor Party (ALP) . Freeman was born in Newtown, New South Wales. He was the son of a bootmaker, and was educated at Sydney Technical College as a pathology laboratory technician. He served in the Australian Army Medical Corps with the First Australian Imperial Force between 1917 and 1919. On repatriation he worked at the University of Sydney Veterinary Research Unit and was active in ex-servicemen's associations. Freeman was an unsuccessful candidate for the seat of Nepean at the 1930 state election. He was elected to the New South Wales Parliament as the Labor member for the seat of Blacktown at the 1945 by-election caused by the death of the sitting Labor member, Frank Hill. Christopher Augustus "Gus" Kelly (21 August 1890 – 25 March 1967) was an Australian politician.
