The Republic of China Armed Forces are the armed forces of the Taiwan, Republic of China (ROC), which once Republic of China (1912–1949), ruled Mainland China and is now currently restricted to its Free area of the Republic of China, territorial jurisdictions of Geography of Taiwan, Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu Islands. The Second Taiwan Strait Crisis, also called the 1958 Taiwan Strait Crisis, was a conflict that took place between the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC). The First Taiwan Strait Crisis (also the Formosa Crisis, the 1954–1955 Taiwan Strait Crisis, the Offshore Islands Crisis, the Quemoy-Matsu Crisis, and the 1955 Taiwan Strait Crisis) was a brief armed conflict between the Communist People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Nationalist Republic of China (ROC) in Taiwan.
