Reid Genauer
Reid Genauer (born May 19, 1972) is an American singer, songwriter and musician best known as the singer and guitarist of the bands Strangefolk and Assembly of Dust. More recently he has recorded and performed under the moniker Reid Genauer & Folks. He has been active as a composer, recording artist, and live performer since the early 1990s, and is known for his story-like lyrical style of folk rock. Musical career Genauer, originally from Chappaqua, New York, started his music career in college at the University of Vermont, where he and guitarist Jon Trafton started Strangefolk as an acoustic duo originally named Strange Folk. Genauer and Trafton added bassit Erik Glockler and drummer Luke Smith to the group and changed the name to Strangefolk. Strangefolk is an American rock-oriented jam band originally from Burlington, Vermont. Since forming in 1991, the band has released five studio albums, four live albums and one live concert DVD. The band consists of Jon Trafton (''lead guitar, vocals''), Erik Glockler (''bass, vocals''), Reid Genauer (''rhythm guitar, vocals''), and Luke Smith (''drums''). "Let Love Rule" is the debut single by American musician Lenny Kravitz and appeared on his debut studio album, '' Let Love Rule'' (1989). The song charted at number 23 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, and number 5 on the US Modern Rock charts. Then-wife Lisa Bonet appears in the video for the single. In April 2009, a remix of the song by the French house duo Justice, was released to help promote the 20th anniversary deluxe edition of the album. Robert C. Christie Hunter (born Robert Burns; June 23, 1941 – September 23, 2019) was an American lyricist, singer-songwriter, translator and poet, best known for his work with the Grateful Dead. Born near San Luis Obispo, California, Hunter spent some time during his childhood in foster homes as a result of his father abandoning his family, and took refuge in reading and writing. He attended the University of Connecticut for a year before returning to Palo Alto, California, Palo Alto, where he became friends with musician Jerry Garcia. Hunter and Garcia began a collaboration that lasted through the remainder of Garcia's life. Garcia and others formed the Grateful Dead in 1965, and later began working with lyrics from Hunter, whom Garcia invited to join the band as a lyricist. ''Where the Sidewalk Ends'' is a 1974 children's poetry collection written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein. It was published by Harper and Row Publishers. The book's poems address common childhood concerns and also present fanciful stories and imaginative images. Silverstein's work is valued by people of all ages, primarily due to his skill in subtly communicating social implications through simple language. Controversial because of its satiric approach to difficult subjects and its theme of challenging authority figures, the book was first banned in 1986 in many libraries and schools.
