The ''Regatta'' class is a class of cruise ships that are owned by Oceania Cruises. The ''Regatta''-class ships were built in 1998–2000 for Renaissance Cruises as a part of their . Renaissance Cruises was a cruise ship operating company that was founded in 1989 and owned by Fearnley & Eger Rederi in Oslo, Norway. It was purchased by Edward Rudner (founder of Alamo Rent a Car, Alamo Car Rental) as the company faltered during the Gulf War. Gross tonnage (GT, G.T. or gt) is a nonlinear measure of a ship's overall internal volume. Gross tonnage is different from gross register tonnage. Neither gross tonnage nor gross register tonnage should be confused with measures of mass or weight such as deadweight tonnage or displacement.
