Red-white-blue Bag
Red-white-blue bag () or laundry bag is a carriage bag made out of nylon canvas in colors of red, white and blue. It originated in Hong Kong in the 1960s and has become a representative of Hong Kong culture. Because the nylon canvas is known of its light, firmness and durable usage, it is commonly used as hand carry luggage and transport between Mainland China and Hong Kong. History The Red-White-Blue bag was originally made from nylon canvas, which was invented by Japan, then exported to Taiwan and eventually came to Hong Kong. The canvas was originally used as shelter on construction sites, temporary roofing in squatter areas, and as protection for farmland. It was first used for bags in the 1960s by a tailor, Lee Wah, who created the bag using the canvas from a Taiwan company. Bags were only blue and white in the first place, but red was added to the fabric so that the color combination represented luck and good fortune. These days, the Red-White-Blue bag is made of woven p ...

Stanley Wong
Stanley Wong Ping Pui (), also known as "Another mountain man" (), is a Hong Kong artist. He created the ''Red White Blue'' series, a series of artwork based on the red-white-blue bags which are commonplace in Hong Kong. Early life and education During his childhood, Wong lived with his family in a roof extension shed on Canton Road. Their home was badly damaged during Typhoon Wanda in 1962. Wong recalled that he "had no aptitude for rote learning", but developed a talent for photography and design during his teenage years, winning many awards in local competitions. After completing his Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, Wong enrolled in the design and technology course of Hong Kong Technical Teachers' College (now part of Hong Kong Institute of Education). He also took design classes in the Hong Kong Polytechnic, but was expelled when the school discovered that he was already employed as a designer when he enrolled in the design programme. Flag Of The Netherlands
The national flag of the Netherlands ( nl, de Nederlandse vlag) is a horizontal tricolour of red, white, and blue. The current design originates as a variant of the late 16th century orange-white-blue ''Prinsenvlag'' ("Prince's Flag"), evolving in the early 17th century as the red-white-blue '' Statenvlag'' ("States Flag"), the naval flag of the States-General of the Dutch Republic, making the Dutch flag perhaps the oldest tricolour flag in continuous use.As a flag that symbolises the transformation from monarchy to republic, it has inspired both the derivative Russian flag, and after the French Revolution in 1789 the vertically striped French tricolour, both flags in turn influenced many other tricolours. During the economic crisis of the 1930s, the old Prince's Flag with the colour orange gained some popularity among some people. To end the confusion, the colours red, white and blue and its official status as the national flag of the Kingdom of the Netherlands were reaf ...

Flag Of The United States
The national flag of the United States of America, often referred to as the ''American flag'' or the ''U.S. flag'', consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton (referred to specifically as the "union") bearing fifty small, white, five-pointed stars arranged in nine offset horizontal rows, where rows of six stars (top and bottom) alternate with rows of five stars. The 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 U.S. states, and the 13 stripes represent the thirteen British colonies that declared independence from Great Britain, and became the first states in the U.S. Nicknames for the flag include the ''Stars and Stripes'', ''Old Glory'', and the ''Star-Spangled Banner''. History The current design of the U.S. flag is its 27th; the design of the flag has been modified officially 26 times since 1777. The 48-star flag was in effect for 47 years until the 49-star version became official on July 4 ...

Red White & Blue Beer
Red White & Blue Beer was a brand of American beer, originally produced by the Pabst Brewing Company and later produced by G. Heileman Brewery of La Crosse, WI. Pre-Prohibition advertisements lauded its "mellow" taste and drinkability. Returning after Prohibition, the brand's name alone would have been a selling point, during the patriotic American sensibilities of World War II and after. The brand experienced a resurgence in the early 1980s, during the country's economic recession. The Avalanche Bar & Grill, an iconic drinking establishment on the campus of Marquette University, reportedly sold more RWB per capita than any other tavern in America or abroad. Patrons often purchased it (at .50/can) for no other reason than to pour it on the floor, providing a slicker surface for 'naked beer sliding', a late night tradition made famous at The 'Lanche. A series of folksy, radio editorial-style commercials by Harmon R. Whittle poked fun at politicians of the day, suggesting tha ...

Red, White And Blue (ship)
''Red, White and Blue'' of New York was a ship-rigged, lifeboat that, with her crew John Morley Hudson, Francis Edward Fitch and Fanny the dog, broke an American record for a small vessel by crossing the Atlantic from New York to Margate in 38 days in 1866. She had a pressed and moulded, galvanised iron hull, and her masts, spars and sails were like those of a full-sized clipper, but sized in proportion to the hull. The voyage was tough. The crew endured heavy weather, a leaking hull, and spoiled stores; the dog died at sea. The ship and crew received the welcome due to them at Margate, but some of the British public found it difficult to credit the success of the attempt, although the voyage was ultimately proved genuine. The ship was exhibited in 1866 at The Crystal Palace, London, and in 1867 at the Exposition Universelle, Paris, where Hudson was granted an interview with Emperor Louis Napoleon. The original purpose of the voyage was to provide publicity for Oliver Rolan ...

Columbia, Gem Of The Ocean
"Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean" is an American patriotic song which was popular in the United States during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Composed 1843, it was long used as an unofficial national anthem of the United States, in competition with other songs. Under the title "Three Cheers for the Red, White, and Blue," the song is mentioned in Chapter IX of MacKinlay Kantor's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel '' Andersonville'' (1955). It was also featured in the 1957 musical ''The Music Man''. In 1969, "Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean" was the music performed by a U.S. Navy Band embarked aboard USS ''Hornet'' as one of the ship's helicopters recovered the Apollo 11 astronauts from their capsule named ''Columbia'' after a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. The melody of "Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean" is identical to that of the British patriotic song "Britannia, the Pride of the Ocean" and there is disagreement as to which song was adapted from the other. History The origin ...
