Red Lake ( oj, Ogaakaaning) is a census-designated place (CDP) within the Lower Red Lake unorganized territory located in Beltrami County, Minnesota, United States. As of the 2020 census, Red Lake had a total population of 1,786. The Red Lake Indian Reservation is based in Red Lake. History 2005 shooting On March 21, 2005, the community was the site of a shooting spree. A high school student murdered his grandfather and girlfriend at his home, before killing five students, two adults, and then himself at the local high school. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.1 mi (13.1 km), of which 4.8 mi (12.5 km) is land and 0.2 mi (0.6 km), 4.70%, is water. Create is an American digital broadcast public television network broadcast on digital subchannels of PBS member stations. The network broadcasts how-to, DIY and other lifestyle-oriented instructional programming 24 hours a day. Red Lake Secondary Complex, formerly Red Lake Senior High School, is a public state-funded high school in unincorporated Red Lake, in Beltrami County, northern Minnesota, United States. The high school is located on the Red Lake Indian Reservation on which members of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa (Ojibwe) Indians live, and has over 300 students. The school's mascots are the ''Ogichidaag'' and ''Ogichidaakwag'' (warriors and lady warriors). The school also hosts its own radio station, Ka-MOD (94.1 FM). The school is a part of Red Lake School District (Independent School District #38). Public education first began in Red Lake with the formation of School District 119. In 1935, ground was broken on the construction of what is now Red Lake High School, with the doors first opening to students in 1936.
