Ray Gafford
Raymond Gafford (January 22, 1914 – February 20, 1990) was an American professional golfer. Gafford was born in Coleman, Texas. He worked as a club professional at Ridglea Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas from 1937 to 1950 and again from 1954 until his retirement. He worked at Northwood Club in Dallas from 1950 to 1954. Gafford won the 1946 Oklahoma Open, was a quarterfinalist at the 1950 PGA Championship, and was the first round leader at the 1952 Masters Tournament. Gafford was inducted into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame in 1983. Coleman is a town in and the county seat of Coleman County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 4,709. Geography Coleman is located north of the center of Coleman County at (31.827694, −99.425689). U.S. Routes 84 and 283 pass through the northeast side of the city. The 1952 Masters Tournament was the 16th Masters Tournament, held April 3–6 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. In strong winds and cool temperatures on the final two days, Sam Snead held on to the lead and won the second of his three Masters titles, four strokes ahead of runner-up Jack Burke Jr. It was the sixth of Snead's seven major titles.
