Raven (Kelela Album)
''Raven'' is the second studio album by American singer and songwriter Kelela. It was released on February 10, 2023, via Warp Records, six years after the release of the singer-songwriter's debut album ''Take Me Apart''. A remix album, titled ''Rave:N, the Remixes'', was released on February 9, 2024. In a press release, Kelela said ''Raven'' began as a reaction to feeling alone as a Black femme working within dance music, and described the album as an affirmation of that perspective. The album was supported by the singles "Washed Away", "Happy Ending", "On the Run", "Contact", and "Enough for Love". Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 86, based on 18 critical reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Kelela Mizanekristos (, , ) (born June 4, 1983) is an American singer. She made her debut in the music industry with the release of her 2013 mixtape ''Cut 4 Me.'' In 2015, she released ''Hallucinogen'', an EP which deals with the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship in reverse chronological order. Her debut studio album, ''Take Me Apart'', was released in 2017 to critical acclaim. After a nearly 5-year hiatus, Kelela released her second album, ''Raven'', in February of 2023. Janiva Ellis (born 1987) is an American painter based in Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, CA. Ellis creates figurative paintings that explore the African-American female experience, while incorporating her journey of self-identity within the Black community. Early life and education Born in Oakland, California, Ellis is biracial. Her mother is white, and her father is black. She was raised by her mother and moved to Hawaii at the age of 7, moving between the islands of Kauai and Oahu. From the age of 10 to 16, she lived in Kauai. She started painting at age 10, and was mentored by Tammy Day, a 20-year black woman. Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics. If all the weights are equal, then the weighted mean is the same as the arithmetic mean. While weighted means generally behave in a similar fashion to arithmetic means, they do have a few counterintuitive properties, as captured for instance in Simpson's paradox.
