Erhard Raus
Erhard Raus (8 January 1889 – 3 April 1956) was a general in the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany during World War II. He commanded the 6th Panzer Division during the early years of the war on the Eastern Front before taking army and army group commands. Raus was one of three former Austrians who rose to the rank of '' Generaloberst'' (Colonel General) within the German Wehrmacht. The other two were Alexander Löhr and Lothar Rendulic. Biography At the age of 18, Raus enrolled in the Austro-Hungarian officer school in Brno, later being stationed in Cormòns. During the First World War he experienced combat on the Eastern Front, in southern Poland, where he commanded a company of Bicycle infantry. At the end of First World War, he was included in the newly formed Austrian army, first as the commander of the Vienna bicycle infantry battalion, later as a tactician at the military academy. John Raus (born August 31, 1984 in Stamford, Connecticut) is a former American soccer player. Profile Youth and college Raus attended Stamford High School and St. Luke's School in New Canaan, Connecticut, played club soccer for the Beachside Premiere club team, and played college soccer at Seton Hall University, where he was a teammate of US national team standout Sacha Kljestan. He was named to BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team as a freshman in 2003. Professional After spending a brief period trailing with Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls, Raus turned professional when he signed with ŁKS Łomża of the Polish Second Division in 2007. While at Łomża Raus scored 5 goals in twenty-two appearances, but left at the end of the season. Vandals
The Vandals were a Germanic people who first inhabited what is now southern Poland. They established Vandal kingdoms on the Iberian Peninsula, Mediterranean islands, and North Africa in the fifth century. The Vandals migrated to the area between the lower Oder and Vistula rivers in the second century BC and settled in Silesia from around 120 BC. They are associated with the Przeworsk culture and were possibly the same people as the Lugii. Expanding into Dacia during the Marcomannic Wars and to Pannonia during the Crisis of the Third Century, the Vandals were confined to Pannonia by the Goths around 330 AD, where they received permission to settle from Constantine the Great.
