"Rather Be" is a song by English electronic music group Clean Bandit, featuring vocals by Jess Glynne. It was released on 5 December 2013 as the fourth single from the group's debut studio album, ''New Eyes'' (2014). It also appears on the deluxe version of Glynne's debut album, ''I Cry When I Laugh'' (2015). It was co-written by band members Jack Patterson and Grace Chatto, along with Jimmy Napes and Nicole Marshall, and produced by Patterson and Chatto. Warner Music Group released a number of official remixes for download, with DJs such as All About She and Cash Cash. "Rather Be" is a song by the English alternative rock band The Verve. It is the third track on their fourth studio album, ''Forth''. The song was released on 17 November 2008, the second single from the album, following the summer hit " Love Is Noise". Richard Ashcroft is credited as the sole composer of the track although, according to band members, the song changed a lot since the initial version brought over by Ashcroft with his companions' aid. This was also the band's final single following their third disbandment a year later. Background According to the band, the song was written by Ashcroft just a few months before they re-formed in mid-2007. Different approaches for it were considered. According to Nick McCabe, a "psychedelic version" of the song was his personal favorite. Rick White (born 5 December 1970) is a Canadian musician and singer-songwriter. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, he was a member of indie bands Eric's Trip, Elevator, Perplexus, and The Unintended. White first played music, in a band called "Bloodstain", in 1984, before starting his own band "in 1986", called "T.C.I.B", which later transitioned into the band name, "The Underdogs", which lasted from the summer of 1987, until June 1988. By the summer of 1989, The Underdogs had broken up, and Rick had joined another band, "The Forest", which lasted from the 1989, until June 1990, with a one-off recording session happening in December, 1990. Ivan Smagghe is a French DJ and producer. He was originally known as Ivan Rough Trade, after his job in the Rough Trade record store in Paris. His musical style has been described as electro house and "minimal electro." Smagghe's ''Death Disco'' compilation was a key release in the electroclash genre. Recorded in 1999 for Hollywood Records, the album was not released until 2005, after Big & Rich had released their debut album. Martine Locke is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist. She has performed in the US and Australia, touring with Ani DiFranco, Cowboy Junkies, Arlo Guthrie and Luka Bloom.
