Ratchaprarop Station () is an Airport Rail Link station on Ratchaprarop Road, Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand. In the future, it will become an interchange station for the MRT Orange Line following the opening of the western extension in 2030. The station serves the Pratunam area. Airport Rail Link (Bangkok)
The Airport Rail Link (ARL) () is an airport rail link line in Bangkok Metropolitan Region connecting Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city center. The commuter rail line starts at the underground platforms inside Suvarnabhumi station, before ascending onto an elevated viaduct to Lat Krabang station, and continuing west parallel to the Eastern Line (Thailand), eastern line railway. The MRT Orange Line () is a rapid transit line of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) in the Bangkok Metropolitan Area, Thailand. When fully completed, the MRT Orange line will be long with 29 stations (7 stations will be elevated for and 22 will be underground for ), including an interchange with the current Thailand Cultural Centre Station of MRT Blue Line). Railway electrification systems using alternating current (AC) at are used worldwide, especially for high-speed rail. Pratunam
Pratunam, written as Pratu Nam (, ), is an intersection and neighborhood in Bangkok. It is located in Thanon Phaya Thai sub-district, Ratchathewi district. The boundaries of the intersection are considered to be where Phetchaburi road passes, and where Ratchadamri and Ratchaprarop roads originate. The next intersection on Ratchaprarop side is Makkasan. The term "Pratunam" means "water gate", as at one time there was a water gate within nearby Sa Pathum Palace, which commonly was known as ''Pratunam Wang Sa Pathum'' or ''Pratunam Sa Pathum'' (ประตูน้ำวังสระปทุม, ประตูน้ำสระปทุม). This water gate was built by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) in the year 1905 to drain water from the Khlong Saen Saep (Saen Saep canal) to distribute to the people, both for agriculture, and water levelling for boating and rafting.
