Rastafari is an Abrahamic religions, Abrahamic religion that developed in Jamaica during the 1930s. It is classified as both a new religious movement and a social movement by Religious studies, scholars of religion. There is no central authority in control of the movement and much diversity exists among practitioners, who are known as Rastafari, Rastafarians, or Rastas. Rastafari beliefs are based on an interpretation of the Bible. Central to the religion is a monotheistic belief in a single God, referred to as Jah, who Immanence, partially resides within each individual. The Rastas () are an armed criminal group active in Eastern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, believed to have been founded in 2004. Its members are predominantly Rwandan Hutus and former ''génocidaires'' and are believed to have ties to the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) militia active in the same region. Rasta (Mandaeism)
A rasta () is a white ceremonial garment that Mandaeans wear during most baptismal rites, religious ceremonies, and during periods of uncleanliness. It signifies the purity of the World of Light. The rasta is worn equally by the laypersons and the priests. If a Mandaean dies in clothes other than a rasta, it is believed that they will not reenter the World of Light, unless the rite "Ahaba ḏ-Mania" ('Giving of Garments') can be performed "for those who have died not wearing the ritual garment." A rasta also has a stitched-on pocket called the ''daša''. Women also wear a robe (''ʿabā'') over the ''rasta'' during masbuta. Stefan Đurić ( sr-Cyrl, Стефан Ђурић; born 16 November 1989), better known as Rasta ( sr-Cyrl, Раста), is a Serbian rapper, singer, songwriter and producer from Priština. Recognized as one of the most popular Serbian artists of his generation, Rasta is known for popularizing the Auto-Tune pitch correction effect in the western Balkans and for often promoting marijuana in his songs. Sports Club Rasta Vechta is a German basketball club based in Vechta, Lower Saxony. The club plays in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), following their promotion from the ProA in 2022–23. Founded in 1979, the club has spent the majority of its history in the lower-tier German leagues. Raul-Stig Rästa (born 24 February 1980) is an Estonian singer and songwriter who, along with singer Elina Born, represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song " Goodbye to Yesterday".
