Heok Hui Tan is a Singaporean ichthyologist at the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum of the National University of Singapore. Actinopterygii (; ), members of which are known as ray-finned fishes, is a class of bony fish. They comprise over 50% of living vertebrate species. The ray-finned fishes are so called because their fins are webs of skin supported by bony or horny spines (rays), as opposed to the fleshy, lobed fins that characterize the class Sarcopterygii (lobe-finned fish). ''Rasbora'' is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae. They are native to freshwater habitats in South and specimen that reputedly originated from Africa (Cameroon), but this locality is considered doubtful. They are small, up to long, although most species do not surpass and many have a dark horizontal stripe. Several species are regularly kept in aquariums.
