1995 Manitoba General Election
The 1995 Manitoba general election was held on April 25, 1995 to elect Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Manitoba, Canada. Progressive Conservative Party, which won 31 seats out of 57, clinched the elections. The New Democratic Party formed the official opposition with 23 seats; the Liberal Party won 3. Dauphin (Manitoba Riding)
Dauphin is a provincial electoral division in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Manitoba. It was originally created in 1881 with the expansion of the province's western boundary, eliminated in 1886, re-established in 1892, and finally abolished in 1999. Most of its territory went to the new riding of Dauphin-Roblin, though a small amount went to the riding of Swan River (electoral district), Swan River. Dauphin-Roblin was largely replaced by a new Dauphin riding in the 2008 redistribution, expanding to include Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, Ste. Rose du Lac. Dauphin was initially centred on the community of Dauphin, Manitoba, though it now encompasses much rural territory as well. It is located in the province's mid-northern region, close to the provincial border with Saskatchewan. Inkster (Manitoba Riding)
Inkster was a provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was located in the northwestern corner of the city of Winnipeg. Officially created by redistribution in 1957, it has existed since the provincial election of 1958. The riding was named after the Inkster family, who were prominent local figures at the time of the province's creation in 1870. John Inkster was a member of Louis Riel's provisional government, while Colin Inkster was a member of the province's Legislative Council (which existed from 1871 to 1876). There were 19,246 persons living in the riding in 1996. Inkster had a broad range of income levels and a strong working-class presence (the manufacturing sector accounting for 23% of industry in 1999). Census reports from 1999 showed an average family income of $51,274, with 8.10% unemployment.
