Railbird (band)
Railbird is an American Experimental/Psychedelic Pop band from Brooklyn, New York. Career Railbird, is the musical project of songwriter Sarah K. Pedinotti. They were featured as one of "5 Artists You Should Know About" in Relix Magazine's December 2010 - The Family Issue. After self-releasing their debut album, No One, in March 2011, the band toured to and from South by Southwest. The album, recorded in Queens and upstate New York, took a year and a half to complete and was co-produced by Jeremy Gustin and Sarah Pedinotti. A month prior to the album's release, their song "Ashes In" off No One was featured on TVD's The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel, as a "Hit of the Week." Sarah Pedinotti
Sarah K Pedinotti known professionally as LIP TALK is an American experimental pop producer, multi-instrumentalist, improviser, composer and songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a collaborator and player in numerous bands, including Kalbells, Hayley Williams, The Secret Machines, Okkervil River, Cuddle Magic, and Railbird. Pedinotti is one of seven in a family of artists. She began writing, singing and playing piano at an early age influenced by an eclectic assortment of music. Her father, David Pedinotti, is also a musician who plays guitar, blues harmonica, and banjo. In the summer of 1996, her parents started a restaurant in Saratoga Springs called One Caroline Street Bistro. Sarah began singing there when she was twelve, sitting in with the nightly featured artists. ''Relix'', originally and occasionally later ''Dead Relix'', is a magazine that focuses on live and improvisational music. The magazine was launched in 1974 as a handmade newsletter devoted to connecting people who recorded Grateful Dead concerts. It rapidly expanded into a music magazine covering a wide number of artists. It is the second-longest continuously published music magazine in the United States after ''Rolling Stone''. South By Southwest
South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas. It began in 1987 and has continued growing in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. The Roots are an American Hip-hop, hip hop band formed in 1987 by singer Black Thought, Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter and drummer Questlove, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ariel Marcus Rosenberg ( ; born June 24, 1978), professionally known as Ariel Pink, is an American musician, singer, and songwriter whose work draws heavily from the popular music of the 1960s–1980s. His lo-fi aesthetic and home-recorded albums proved influential to many indie musicians starting in the late 2000s. He is frequently cited as the "godfather" of the hypnagogic pop and chillwave movements, and he is credited with galvanizing a larger trend involving the evocation of the media, sounds, and outmoded technologies of prior decades, as well as an equal appreciation between high and low art in independent music. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros was an American folk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2005. The group was led by singer Alex Ebert. The band's name is based on a story Ebert wrote in his youth, about a messianic figure named Edward Sharpe. Drawing from roots rock, folk, gospel, and psychedelic music, the band's image and sound evoke the hippie movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The group's first show was played July 18, 2007, at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. Little Dragon are a Swedish electronic music band from Gothenburg, Sweden, formed in 1996. The band consists of Yukimi Nagano (vocals, percussion), Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Wallin (bass) and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards). Esperanza Emily Spalding (born October 18, 1984), sometimes professionally known with the stylized name of esperanza spalding, is an American bassist, singer, songwriter, and composer.
