Radulf was the List of rulers of Thuringia, Duke of Thuringia (''dux Thoringiae'') from 632 or 633 (certainly before 634) until his death after 642. Biography According to the Chronicle of Fredegar, he was a son of one Chamar, a Franks, Frankish aristocrat, and rose to power under the Merovingian dynasty, Merovingian king Dagobert I, who appointed him as ''dux'' in the former Thuringian kingdom which Francia had conquered in 531.J.M. Radulf II, Duke Of Thuringia
Radulf or Ratolf (died before 880) was the Duke of Thuringia (or the Sorbian March) from 874 until his death. Radulf was the successor and possibly son of Thachulf. On Thachulf's death in August 873, the Sorbs, Siusli, and their neighbours revolted. Radulf and Liutbert, Archbishop of Mainz, crossed the Saale in January 874 and through a campaign of pillage and fire brought the Slavs into submission without a battle. Radulphus or simply Ralph was an early 13th-century bishop of Brechin, Scotland. He was elected to the bishopric as early as 1198 or 1199 when he appears as "bishop of Brechin" witnessing the nativity of the future king Alexander II. He may have been elected before that, for he was "elect" in the time of Gilbert, Prior of St Andrews, who was prior between 1196 and 1198. Radulphus was consecrated in 1202. His one notable action was the granting of the church of "Glenylif" to Cambuskenneth Abbey. Radulphe (also spelled Radulph, Rodolphe, etc.) was a French monk who, without permission from his superiors, left his monastery in France and travelled to the Rhine Valley during the Second Crusade (1145–1149) where he preached "that the Jews should be slain as the enemies of the Christian religion." At Cologne Simon "the Pious" was murdered and mutilated; at Speyer a woman was tortured on the rack to persuade her to Christianity. Secular prelates tried to protect the Jews. Arnold, the Archbishop of Cologne gave them a fortified castle as refuge, and allowed them to arm themselves; the Crusaders refrained from attacking the castle, but killed any unconverted Jew that fell into their clutches.
