Quttiktuq ( iu, ᖁᑦᑎᒃᑐᕐᒃ) is a territorial electoral district ( riding) for the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut, Canada. Rebekah Williams
Rebekah Uqi Williams (born March 3, 1950) is a Canadian politician who served as the acting commissioner of Nunavut from June 22, 2020, when Nellie Kusugak's term ended, until January 14, 2021, when Eva Aariak took office. She has been the Deputy Commissioner of Nunavut since December 20, 2019. She also served as a former territorial level politician from Arctic Bay, Northwest Territories, now part of Nunavut. Rachel Qitsualik-Tinsley
Rachel Attituq Qitsualik-Tinsley is a Canadian writer. She was a winner of the Burt Award for First Nations, Métis and Inuit Literature in 2015 for ''Skraelings'', which she cowrote with her husband Sean Qitsualik-Tinsley. The book was also a shortlisted finalist for the Governor General's Award for English-language children's literature at the 2014 Governor General's Awards. The duo also cowrote the 2008 book ''Qanuq Pinngurnirmata'', a volume of Inuit mythology. The book was reissued in 2015 as ''How Things Came to Be: Inuit Stories of Creation''. She works as an Inuktitut language translator, and has written both non-fiction and short stories about Inuit culture. 2017 Nunavut General Election
The 2017 Nunavut general election was held on October 30, 2017 to return the members of the 5th Nunavut Legislature. The fifth general election held since the creation of the territory in 1999, it was the first election held under Nunavut's new fixed election dates law, which requires elections to be held no more than four years after the prior election. Unlike most federal or provincial elections in Canada, elections to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut are conducted on a non-partisan consensus government model, in which all candidates run as independents rather than being nominated by political parties. 2008 Nunavut General Election
The 2008 Nunavut General Election was held on October 27, 2008, to return members to the 3rd Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. The election was contested across 15 of Nunavut's 19 electoral districts under the first past the post system of voting. Due to local circumstances, the election was delayed in two districts, and two districts did not hold elections as their incumbent MLAs faced no opposition and were acclaimed back into office. Ten of the 15 seats went to first-time MLAs, four of whom defeated incumbents. Premier Paul Okalik and Finance Minister Louis Tapardjuk were the only two cabinet ministers to keep their seats. The 2004 Nunavut general election was held on February 16, 2004, to elect the 19 members of the 2nd Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. Premier Paul Okalik asked for the five-year-old territory's first parliament to be dissolved on January 16.
