Quirino Station (LRT)
Quirino station, also formerly known as President Quirino station, is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Malate, Manila Philippines. It is situated at the intersection of Taft Avenue, San Andres Street and Quirino Avenue. The station and Quirino Avenue are both named after former president Elpidio Quirino. Quirino station is the eleventh station for trains headed to Fernando Poe Jr., and the fifteenth station for trains headed to Dr. Santos. History The station was opened to the public on December 1, 1984, as part of LRT’s initial southern section, known as the Taft Line, which was the first segment to become operational. Transportation links Quirino station is served by buses, jeepneys, and UV Express plying Taft Avenue and nearby routes, tricycles, and taxis. The Light Rail Transit Line 1, commonly referred to as LRT Line 1 or LRT-1, is a state-owned (through Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA)) but privately operated (by Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC)) light rapid transit system line in Metro Manila, Philippines, and as part of the Manila Light Rail Transit System. List Of Rail Transit Stations In Metro Manila
The following is an alphabetical list of rail transit stations in the Greater Manila Area, which make up the region's rail network. The list includes existing and future Manila Light Rail Transit System (LRT), Manila Metro Rail Transit System (MRT) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) stations in the region. Summary There are 63 operational stations on the Greater Manila Area's rail network, with 38 from the LRT's two lines, 13 from the MRT's one line, and 12 from the PNR. There were also previously 35 operational PNR stations, but operations were suspended to give way for the construction of the North–South Commuter Railway (NSCR). Ronald Allan Kelley Poe (August 20, 1939 – December 14, 2004), known professionally as Fernando Poe Jr., and often referred to by his initials FPJ, was a Filipino actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, and politician. Elpidio Rivera Quirino (; November 16, 1890 – February 29, 1956) was a Philippine nationality law, Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the 6th President of the Philippines from 1948 to 1953. A lawyer by profession, Quirino entered politics when he became a representative of Ilocos Sur's Ilocos Sur's 1st congressional district, 1st district from 1919 to 1922. He was then elected as a senator from 1925 to 1935. President Elpidio Quirino Avenue, more commonly known as Quirino Avenue, is a 6-10 lane divided highway in Manila, Philippines.
