Quintessenz – Leipziger Querflötenensemble
Quintessenz Leipzig Flute Ensemble is a flute quintet from Leipzig, Germany. Its members are five musicians of Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, MDR Symphony Orchestra, and Staatskapelle Halle. History Quintessenz Leipzig Flute Ensemble was founded in 1996 and was inspired by the works of British a cappella-band King’s Singers, the '' Bamboozles'', and a flute quintet of five students of Trevor Wye. Quintessenz began arranging their own musical pieces. They used music for quintets of different instruments and also adapted symphonic pieces, piano literature, and completely different music genres. Thus, they began to compile their own programs. In 1999, Quintessenz recorded their first CD, followed by three more. In 2006, the ensemble was invited by Trevor Wye to the flute festival of the British Flute Society in Manchester. Trevor Wye
Trevor Wye (born 6 June 1935) is a professional English flautist, flute instructor, and author of books about flute playing.. He was a founder of the British Flute Society and International Summer School for flute, serving as director of the latter from 1969 to 1988. Wye began playing the flute at age 15 and studied privately with Marcel Moyse, whom he credits as a major influence on his career. He went on to be a pupil of Geoffrey Gilbert and further acknowledges the influenced of Alfred Deller and William Bennett. He was a freelance orchestral and chamber player in London for many years and has released several solo recordings. A Midsummer Night's Dream
''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' is a Comedy (drama), comedy play written by William Shakespeare in about 1595 or 1596. The play is set in Athens, and consists of several subplots that revolve around the marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta. One subplot involves a conflict among four Athenian lovers. Another follows a group of six amateur actors rehearsing the play which they are to perform before the wedding. The National Flute Association (NFA) is an organization of flute players with roughly 5,000 members from more than 50 countries. It is an association in the United States with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. The organization was founded in 1972 by flutist Mark Thomas and incorporated in 1973 in Indiana. King’s Singers
The King's Singers are a British a cappella vocal ensemble founded in 1968. They are named after King's College in Cambridge, England, where the group was formed by six choral scholars. In the United Kingdom, their popularity peaked in the 1970s and early 1980s.
