Qinhuangdao–Shenyang passenger railway or Qinshen railway () is a passenger-dedicated high-speed railway between Qinhuangdao, Hebei province and Shenyang, Liaoning province of China, spanning a distance of . Construction started on August 16, 1999. Formally opened on October 12, 2003, it is the first newly built high-speed railway in China, costing CN¥15.7 billion (US$1.9 billion). It is an electrified dual-track railway designed for a top speed of . By 2007 its top speed was increased to . The CRH5 Hexie () is an electric multiple unit high-speed train in use with China Railway High-speed in the northern regions of the People's Republic of China. The CRH5 is based on the ETR-600 New Pendolino used in Italy. The CRH5 are non-tilting trains, developed for the Chinese Railways and whose technology has been transferred to local manufacturers. Beijing–Harbin Railway
The Beijing–Harbin railway, or the Jingha Railway (), is the railway that connects Beijing with Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province. It spans . It is a very prominent route in the provinces of northeastern China. History Construction of the section between Tangshan and Tianjin began in 1881 as the Kaiping Tramway. This section is the second-oldest railway in China and the oldest still in use. The DJJ2 "China Star" () is an indigenously designed experimental high speed train manufactured in China. It is an EMU train developed from the DJJ1 "Blue Arrow" high speed train by Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Works. Overview It consists of 2 power cars and 9 passenger cars. The prototype rolled out in 2002. The train set is designed for a top speed of , and a full load of 726 passengers. It achieved a top speed of on the newly built Qinshen Passenger Railway line during a test run in late 2002, setting a Chinese train speed record.
