Parnamirim
Parnamirim is a Municipalities of Brazil, Brazilian municipality in the States of Brazil, state of Rio Grande do Norte, located 17 kilometers south of the state capital, Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Natal. Part of the Greater Natal, Natal Metropolitan Region, it covers an area of 124 km² and had a population of inhabitants according to the 2022 Brazilian Census, as reported by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), making it the third most populous municipality in the state, following Natal and Mossoró, and the List of cities in Brazil by population, 115th in Brazil. Conurbation, Conurbated with the capital, bordering it to the north, Parnamirim is experiencing significant economic growth, particularly in the real estate sector. Parnamirim Field
Augusto Severo International Airport , originally called Parnamirim Airport, was the civilian airport that served Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, Brazil, located in the adjoining municipality of Parnamirim. Starting on November 24, 1951, the airport was named after the aviator Augusto Severo de Albuquerque Maranhão (1864-1902). On May 31, 2014, all domestic and international flights were moved to the new Greater Natal International Airport, Gov. Aluízio Alves International Airport, and Augusto Severo was closed for civil aviation. Some of its facilities were shared with the Natal Air Force Base of the Brazilian Air Force. History Before World War II Air France operated a mail service with flying boats and landplanes across the Atlantic from Dakar which routed via Natal.
