Pubic Piercing
A pubic piercing is a body piercing in the pubic area. The term usually refers to a piercing at the base of the penis, making it a male analogue to the Christina. Healing times are typically around 3–4 months. As this is essentially a surface piercing, the rejection rate is higher than most "conventional" (nose, ear, tongue) piercings. Some get this piercing because it can offer direct stimulation to the clitoris during intercourse. Standard placement is horizontal, at the natural juncture where the bottom of the pubic mound meets the base of the penile shaft. Curved barbells are the most common initial jewellery, although a ring may be an option and many wearers replace their starting jewellery with rings once the piercing has healed. Piercings further up the pubis may also be possible, but this would not be a 'pubic piercing' as such but rather a surface piercing on the pubis. For these placements a staple-shaped surface bar Barbell style piercing jewelry is compose ...

Mons Pubis
In human anatomy, and in mammals in general, the ''mons pubis'' or pubic mound (also known simply as the mons , and known specifically in females as the ''mons Venus'' or ''mons veneris'') is a rounded mass of fatty tissue found over the pubic symphysis of the pubic bones. Structure For females, the ''mons pubis'' forms the anterior and superior portion of the vulva. It divides into the labia majora (literally "larger lips"), on either side of the furrow known as the ''pudendal cleft'' that surrounds the rest of the vulvar parts: labia minora, clitoris, urinary meatus, vaginal opening, and vulval vestibule. Although present in both men and women, the ''mons pubis'' tends to be larger in women. Its fatty tissue is sensitive to estrogen, causing a distinct mound to form with the onset of female puberty. This pushes the forward portion of the labia majora out and away from the pubic bone. The mound also becomes covered with pubic hair. It often becomes less prominent with th ...

The body of the penis is made up of three columns of tissue (biology), tissue: two Corpus cavernosum penis, corpora cavernosa on the dorsal side and corpus spongiosum penis, corpus spongiosum between them on the ventral side. The Urethra#Male, urethra passes through the prostate gland, where it is joined by the ejaculatory ducts, and then through the penis. The urethra goes across the corpus spongiosum and ends at the tip of the glans as the o ...

Captive Bead Ring
A captive bead ring (CBR), ball closure ring (BCR), captive hoop, or captive ball ring is a common example of body piercing jewelry. The captive bead or ball fits into a small opening in the circle of the ring. The bead is slightly larger than this opening and has small indentations or depressions that correspond to the ring's end-points so that it may fit snugly against them, thus completing the circuit of the ring. Often, a hole is drilled through the bead to allow easier fitting. It uses the natural tension (mechanics), tensile or compression (physical), compressive strength of the metal the ring is made of, usually surgical stainless steel, niobium, or titanium, to hold the bead tightly in place. The bead or ball itself may additionally be made from coloured glass, acrylic glass, acrylic or ceramic, or a gemstone. This is a popular piece of body jewelry because it conveniently allows the wearer to remove the ring by simply removing the captive bead; the bead is held firmly in ...

Christina Piercing
A Christina piercing, also known as a Venus piercing, is a female genital piercing. It is located where the outer labia meet, below the pubic mound. The Christina piercing is anatomy dependent; it has a high rejection rate, and is not possible for all women due to anatomical variation. If the flesh above the clitoris where the outer labia meet is fleshy enough to pinch, a Christina piercing may be successful. If the flesh in this area is too tight to pinch, a Christina piercing is contraindicated. The piercing does not facilitate sexual stimulation and can be found uncomfortable when pressure is applied. It is usually pierced with either a custom-made curved barbell or surface bar to reduce the risk of rejection. The Christina piercing is of contemporary origin. The first known Christina piercing was performed in the 1990s. As is common practice in the piercing industry, it was named after the first recipient of the piercing, a woman named Christina. It is also occasionally ...

Surface Piercing
Surface piercings are Body piercing, piercings that are found on flat parts of the body, giving a double-pierced look that sits flat against the skin. A surface bar follows the plane of skin, while a standard piercing is pierced through the plane. Standard piercings have an entrance hole with an exit hole that is usually directly behind the entrance hole, whereas with a surface piercing the entrance and exit holes are next to each other on the skin surface. Types Some examples of surface piercings: *Corset piercing: a series of bilaterally symmetrical piercings, normally done on the back, intended to be laced like a corset. *Christina piercing: located at the mons pubis. *Madison piercing: a horizontal piercing located just above the collarbone, at the base of the neck. *Nape piercing: located on the back of the neck. *Neck piercing: located on the side of the neck. It is also called "Vampire Bites". *Hip piercing: located on or beside the hips (on the pelvis near the hips bones). ...

Nose Piercing
Nose piercing is the piercing of the skin or cartilage which forms any part of the nose, normally for the purpose of wearing jewelry, called a nose-jewel. Among the different varieties of nose piercings, the nostril piercing is the most common. History Nose piercing is recorded in various parts of the world, including in some indigenous societies of Americas and Australia. Earliest written evidence of nose piercing appears in the Book of Genesis. According to Barry Ladizinski et al. 2013 ''"The practice, which is performed for symbolic or beautification purposes, originated more than 4000 years ago in the Middle East, migrating to India in the 1500s and reaching Western civilization by the 20th century."'' Nose piercing remains a significant cultural and aesthetic practice, symbolizing beauty, identity, and tradition across diverse societies worldwide. In Americas, nose piercing can be dated through pre-Columbian and colonial times throughout North and South America. Num ...

Ear Piercing
Earrings are jewelry that can be worn on one's ears. Earrings are commonly worn in a piercing in the earlobe or another external part of the ear, or by some other means, such as stickers or clip-ons. Earrings have been worn across multiple civilizations and historic periods, often carrying a cultural significance. Locations for piercings other than the earlobe include the rook, tragus, and across the helix (see image in the infobox). The simple term "ear piercing" usually refers to an earlobe piercing, whereas piercings in the upper part of the external ear are often referred to as "cartilage piercings". Cartilage piercings are more complex to perform than earlobe piercings and take longer to heal. Earring components may be made of any number of materials, including metal, plastic, glass, precious stone, beads, wood, bone, and other materials. Designs range from small hoops and studs to large plates and dangling items. The size is ultimately limited by the physical capacity ...

Tongue Piercing
A tongue piercing is a body piercing usually done directly through the center of the tongue. Since its decline in popularity around 2011, it has seen a recent upsurge making it now the second most popular piercing amongst young women aged 18–25 in 2019. It has become quite unpopular amongst men, although in the 1990s and early 2000s, it was more popular for men than women to get and associated with punk culture. Midline tongue piercings, or one hole through the center of the tongue is the most common way to have the tongue pierced. History and culture The term "tongue ring" is often used to refer to tongue piercing, but this is not accurate as rings are rarely worn in tongue piercings. There is a history of ritual tongue piercing in Aztec and Maya cultures. Priests would pierce their tongues and either draw blood from them or pass rough cords through to inflict pain. However, there is no evidence that the Aztecs practiced long-term or permanent tongue piercing, despite the ...
