Prussia (; ; Old Prussian: ''Prūsija'') was a Germans, German state centred on the North European Plain that originated from the 1525 secularization of the Prussia (region), Prussian part of the State of the Teutonic Order. For centuries, the House of Hohenzollern ruled Prussia, expanding its size with the Prussian Army. St Paul's Church () in Frankfurt am Main is a former church building used as an exhibition, memorial and meeting place. It was built between 1789 and 1833 to replace the medieval "Barfüßerkirche", which was demolished in 1786, and served as Frankfurt's main Protestant-Lutheran church until 1944, when it was replaced by St Catherine's Church. From 1848 to 1849, the delegates of the Frankfurt National Assembly, the first parliament for the whole of Germany, met in the neoclassical circular building designed by architect Johann Friedrich Christian Hess. Alongside Hambach Castle, St Paul's Church is thus regarded as a symbol of the democratic movement in Germany and a national symbol. Eduard Heinrich Flottwell (23 July 1786 – 28 May 1865; after 1861 von Flottwell) was a Prussian '' Staatsminister''. He served as '' Oberpräsident'' (governor) of the Grand Duchy of Posen (from 1830) and of the Saxony (from 1841), Westphalia (from 1846) and Brandenburg (from 1850) Provinces. He was also Prussian Minister of Finance (1844-1846) and Minister of Interior (1858-1859). Ferdinand Von Westphalen
Ferdinand Otto Wilhelm Henning von Westphalen (April 23, 1799 - July 2, 1876) German politician and the Interior Minister of Prussia in the reaction era 1850–1858. Life Westphalen was born in Lubeck. He is the son of Ludwig von Westphalen and his first wife Elisabeth von Veltheim. He studied from 1816 to 1819 at the universities of Halle, Göttingen and Berlin. He held various administrative positions, including district administrator and government councilor. In 1850, he became the Prussian Interior Minister and also served as interim Minister for Agricultural Affairs at the suggestion of Ludwig Friedrich Leopold von Gerlach. Westphalen restored Provincial Estates, despite constitutional concerns. His tenure saw opposition from Otto Theodor von Manteuffel. Upon Prince Wilhelm's regency, Westphalen left his ministerial role. Otto Theodor Freiherr von Manteuffel (3 February 1805 – 26 November 1882) was a conservative Prussian statesman, serving nearly a decade as prime minister. Early life Born into an aristocratic family in Lübben (Spreewald), Manteuffel attended the Landesschule Pforta from 1819. In 1824–1827, he studied jurisprudence and cameralism at the University of Halle, where he joined the Corps Saxonia Halle, a duelling ''Studentenverbindung'' in the Kösener Senioren-Convents-Verband ("KSCV"). Career In 1830, Manteuffel commenced his clerkship in law. He became a ''Landrat'' (local administrator) of the district of Luckau in 1833; in 1841, he was promoted to ''Oberregierungsrat'' (a senior administrative position) in Königsberg, and in 1843 he was made Vice-President of the government in Stettin.
