Prithvi Vallabh (1924 Film)
''Prithvi Vallabh'' (English: The Lord of Love and Power) was a 1924 Indian historical drama film directed by Manilal Joshi. It was based on the 1921 Gujarati novel ''Prithivivallabh'' by K. M. Munshi. Plot Munj, the king of Avanti who is a great warrior and patron of arts, is captured by his opponent Tailap with help from Bhillam, king of Dharavati. Tailap orders an execution of Munj but is stopped by Mrinalvati, Tailap's sister, who wants to break Munj's spirit. But she fall in love with Munj and they decide to escape together. When Tailap come to know about the plan, he has Munj executed by elephants. Cast Cast is as follows: * P. Y. Manilal Joshi
Manilal Joshi (1893 – 7 September 1927) was a film director of silent films from Indian cinema. Biography Joshi was a school teacher in Bombay before joining cinema. He was trained under cinematographer Vishnu B. Joshi at Kohinoor Studio (1920). He started his career as a director with his debut film ''Veer Abhimanyu'' (1922). The film was produced by Ardeshir Irani and Bhogilal Dave who had started their banner, Star Film Company Ltd. in 1922. The film was known as ''Virat Swaroop'' and was a "big-budget mythological". Vadodara (), also known as Baroda, is a city situated on the banks of the Vishwamitri River in the Indian state of Gujarat. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Vadodara district. Prithvi Vallabh (Hindi: पृथ्वी वल्लभ) is a historical drama Bollywood film directed by Sohrab Modi. Made under the Minerva Movietone banner it was released in Bollywood films of 1943, 1943. It had music by Rafiq Ghaznavi and Saraswati Devi (music director), Saraswati Devi with lyrics by Pandit Sudershan who also wrote the screenplay and dialogues. The film starred Sohrab Modi, Durga Khote, Sankatha Prasad, Kajjanbai, Meena Shorey, Sadiq Ali, K. N. Singh and Al Nasir. Makarpura Palace
Makarpura Palace is a royal palace of Gaekwads of the Baroda State, in present-day Vadodara, Gujarat, India. It was built by Maharaja Khende Rao in 1870, in the Italian style. It was used as summer residence and hunting resort by the Royal Family. The palace is now used as a training school called No.17 Tetra School by the Indian Air Force. History In 1866, a Maharaja of Baroda, Khande Rao, built an entire new palace finished in 1870. It is said that Malhar Rao Gaekwad, brother of Khanderao II Gaekwad, who ruled Baroda from 1856 to 1870, destroyed a portion of this palace. Fatma Begum
Fatma Begum (1892 1983) was an Indian actress, director, producer and screenwriter. She is known as ''The First Female Film Director in Indian Cinema''. Within four years, she went on to write, produce and direct many films. She launched her own production house, Fatma Films, which later became Victoria-Fatma Films, and directed her first film, ''Bulbul-e-Paristan'', in 1926. Early life Fatma Begum was born into an Urdu-speaking Muslim family in India and came from a background in the Urdu language theater, her family of Muslim background having spoken that tongue. She was trained in theater and mostly acted in Urdu and Hindi plays. Career She began her career on the Urdu stage.
