Pritchard Gymnasium
Pritchard Gymnasium is a 1,970-seat, 20,000 square-foot multi-purpose gymnasium located within the Stony Brook Sports Complex in Stony Brook, New York. The gym opened in 1964 and is the current home for the Stony Brook Seawolves volleyball team. It was formerly the home of Stony Brook's men's and women's basketball teams. History Pritchard Gymnasium opened in 1964. At the time, it was known simply as the Stony Brook Gym. The gym served as the original home for Stony Brook men's basketball from 1969 to 1990, until the Stony Brook Arena was opened in 1990. The Gymnasium underwent a $1.2 million renovation in the summer of 2008 and reopened in time for the 2009 Stony Brook women's volleyball season. Ravens Mountains () is a symmetrical group of mountains on the west side of Hughes Basin in Britannia Range, Antarctica. The mountains are long and rise to in Doll Peak. Name The Ravens Mountains were named after the 109th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard which has provided logistical support to the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) for several years beginning in 1988. Ravens is a nickname associated with the Airlift Wing. Mount Pritchard
Mount Pritchard is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 34 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government areas of the City of Fairfield and the City of Liverpool, and is part of the South-western Sydney region. History Mount Pritchard was originally home to the Cabrogal people who occupied much of the greater Fairfield area. In the early 19th century, the land was granted to a number of ex-convicts for farming. Later it was made part of the Male Orphan School Estate. In 1913, land west of Cabramatta Creek and Orange Grove Road previously owned by the Bull family was subdivided into smaller residential lots by a real estate property salesman named Hugh Pritchard, who named it the Cabramatta Park Estate. Pritchard is an unincorporated community straddling the South Thompson River in the Thompson region of south central British Columbia. Northeast of the BC Highway 97 intersection on BC Highway 1, the locality is by road about west of Chase and east of Kamloops. Pioneer settlers James Todd and George Bohun Martin were employees of the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). Todd pre-empted about on the south side shore eastward from the present bridge. In 1866, Martin took over Todd's land. Adjacent, Jean Laveau briefly settled to the east, at what became Laveau Creek, and Edward de Champs to the west at what became Neds Creek. On the north shore, opposite the Martin holding, Arthur Gore Pemberton settled. Preston Bennett and Moses Lumby, who bought south of Martin in 1867, sold this adjoining property to Martin in 1870. Pritchard Park is a former Superfund environmental cleanup site on the shore of Bainbridge Island's Eagle Harbor in Washington state. The Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial is within the park. History The Pacific Creosoting Company, later known as Wyckoff Company, occupied the site until the 1980s, and supported the community of Creosote. Government agencies estimate that of creosote still remain in the ground at the site, after more than $100 million in environmental remediation. Acquisition of the property was made by a partnership including Bainbridge Island Land Trust, Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park and Recreation District, the City of Bainbridge Island, the Suquamish Tribe, the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Community, and The Trust for Public Land. Paul Pritchard Shipyard, also known as State Shipyard, Rose's Shipyard, and Begbie & Manson's Shipyard, is a historic shipyard site located at Mount Pleasant, Charleston County, South Carolina. The shipyard was in operation as early as 1702, and was the site of an attack made during the French and Spanish invasion of 1706. It was acquired by Paul Pritchard and sold to the commissioners of the South Carolina State Navy in 1778, and was South Carolina's only state shipyard at the time. It was sold back to Pritchard after the American Revolutionary War, who with his son operated it until 1831.
