Principessina
''Principessina'' ("Little Princess") is a 1943 Italian drama film directed by Tullio Gramantieri. It is an unauthorized remake of the 1939 film '' The Little Princess'', which was in turn based on the novel ''A Little Princess'' by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Plot The Prince of Torrefranca has to leave her young daughter Anna at a boarding school while he fights in the First Italo-Ethiopian War. He also entrusts a huge amount of money to the Headmistress, so that his daughter will have everything she needs. The child is treated well until her father is reported missing in action. Anna is now forced to sleep in the attic and is treated like a scullery maid by the cruel Headmistress, who has taken all of her money, but the child doesn't loose the hope to find her father, and after many researches and adventures she finally finds him injured in an hospital with the help of a royal princess. ''A Little Princess'' is a children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, first published as a book in 1905. It is an expanded version of the short story "Sara Crewe: or, What Happened at Miss Minchin's", which was serialized in '' St. Nicholas Magazine'' from December 1887, and published in book form in 1888. According to Burnett, after she composed the 1902 play ''A Little Un-fairy Princess'' based on that story, her publisher asked that she expand the story as a novel with "the things and people that had been left out before". The novel was published by Charles Scribner's Sons (also publisher of ''St. Nicholas Magazine'') with illustrations by Ethel Franklin Betts and the full title ''A Little Princess: Being the Whole Story of Sara Crewe Now Being Told for the First Time''. Olinto Cristina (5 February 1888 – 17 June 1962) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Florence to stage actors Raffaello Cristina and Cesira Sabatini, Cristina began acting on stage as a child, within the company of Tina Di Lorenzo and Flavio Andò. Following World War I, he participated in various ensembles alongside local theatre personalities such as Armando Falconi, Ruggero Ruggeri, Emma Gramatica, Antonio Gandusio and his brother-in-law Ermete Zacconi. In 1956, he was among the actors to star in the first Italian theatrical production of ''The Crucible'' by Arthur Miller. On screen, Cristina debuted during the sound period in the 1932 musical film '' Pergolesi'', directed by Guido Brignone. Anna Carena (born Giuseppina Galimberti; 30 January 1899 – 15 April 1990) was an Italian actress. She appeared in more than thirty films from 1941 to 1983. Life and career Born in Milan, in 1924 Galimberti started her career on stage in the theatrical company of Annibale Betrone. After being part of a number of companies, in 1931 she adopted her stage name and became primadonna of the Dialect Company of the in her hometown. In 1933, she founded her own company, specialized in Milanese dialect plays. In the 1930s she started collaborating with EIAR, and after the war she entered the stage company of Annibale Ninchi. Carena made her film debut in 1941, and specialized in character roles. Delia Scala (born Odette Bedogni; 25 September 1929 – 15 January 2004) was an Italian ballerina, actress and singer who played a leading role in the nascent ''commedia musicale''. Career Scala was born as Odette Bedogni in Bracciano, Lazio, Italy. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Milan where she studied ballet at Scuola di Ballo del Teatro alla Scala, "La Scala" Ballet School for seven years.
