Princess Jieyou (TV Series)
''Princess Jieyou'' () is a 2016 Chinese historical television series, based on the story of Princess Jieyou of the Han dynasty. It is directed by Lu Yang, written by Xu Yiliang, Yu Yang, Sun Hao and Xue Qiao, and stars Zhang Xinyi, Yuan Hong (actor), Yuan Hong, Yuan Wenkang, Zhang Yiluan, and Ye Qing. The series aired on CCTV-8 from 18 February to 28 February 2016. Synopsis In the period of Emperor Wu of Han (141 BC-87 BC), the Han Empire is being invaded by the Xiongnu empire. In order to defeat the Xiongnu, Emperor Wu dispatches Princess Jieyou to the Wusun kingdom to marry the King Weng Kunmi, then the two empires form an alliance against the Xiongnu. Zhang Xinyi
Zhang Xinyi (, born 29 May 1981) is a Chinese actress and director. She ranked 95th on ''Forbes'' Forbes China Celebrity 100, China Celebrity 100 list in 2013, 99th in 2014, and 80th in 2015. Biography Zhang was born in 1981 in Ziyang, Sichuan province. After graduating from the Central Academy of Drama in 2005 she became a dancer and joined the Shenzhen Song and Dance Ensemble. After appearing in a number of small acting roles Zhang was cast in the 2012 television series ''Beijing Love Story (TV series), Beijing Love Story'' which was popular and created a fan base for the actress. Wusun
The Wusun ( ) were an ancient semi-Eurasian nomads, nomadic Eurasian Steppe, steppe people of unknown origin mentioned in Chinese people, Chinese records from the 2nd century BC to the 5th century AD. The Wusun originally lived between the Qilian Mountains and Dunhuang (Gansu) near the Yuezhi. Around 176 BC the Xiongnu raided the lands of the Yuezhi, who subsequently attacked the Wusun, killing their king and seizing their land. The Xiongnu adopted the surviving Wusun prince and made him one of their generals and leader of the Wusun. Around 162 BC the Yuezhi were driven into the Ili River Valley in Jetisu, Zhetysu, Dzungaria and Tian Shan, which had formerly been inhabited by the Saka. Feng Liao
Feng Liao (馮嫽) was China's first official female diplomat, who represented the Han dynasty to Wusun (烏孫), which was in the Western Regions. It was a practice for the Imperial Court to foster alliances with the northern tribes via marriage, and two Han princesses had married Wusun kings.
