Prince Engine
Prince is the codename for a family of straight-four 16-valve all-aluminium gasoline engines with variable valve lift and variable valve timing developed by BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroën. It is a compact engine family of 1.4–1.6 L in displacement and includes most modern features such as gasoline direct injection and turbocharger. The Saab PhoeniX is a concept car produced by Saab Automobile, Saab which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show#2011, 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The concept car's name was chosen at a time when the troubled Saab company had just been sold to Spyker Cars, Spyker by General Motors), ready to rise again, like the mythical bird the Phoenix (mythology), phoenix. However, at the time PhoeniX was unveiled, Saab went formally bankrupt, unable to cover their bills. The PhoeniX was designed by Jason Castriota as one of his first creations for Saab. Gasoline direct injection (GDI), also known as petrol direct injection (PDI), is a fuel injection system for internal combustion engines that run on gasoline (petrol) which injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber. The Valvetronic system is a BMW variable valve lift system which, in combination with VANOS, allows infinite adjustment of both intake valve timing and lift. The system claims to improve fuel economy and emissions, and negates the need for a throttle body in regular use.
