The 51st Primetime Emmy Awards were held on Sunday, September 12, 1999. The ceremony show was hosted by Jenna Elfman and David Hyde Pierce. It was broadcast on Fox. The comedy-drama ''Ally McBeal'' won Outstanding Comedy Series, which not only dethroned five-time defending champion ''Frasier'' but also became the first time Fox won that award. ''Gary & Mike'' is an American adult animated buddy sitcom that aired on UPN in 2001 and Comedy Central in 2003. It was Big Ticket Television's first animated show. The show was produced in stop motion clay animation and lasted only one season. A total of thirteen episodes were produced. The series was initially proposed to Fox, but was eventually passed over to UPN. UPN had aired the episodes out of order, leading to inconsistencies within the plot serialization (save for the production placement of the third and fourth episodes). In addition to its own musical score by Greg O'Connor and title theme by Bottlefly, the series has had a number of licensed songs that can be heard throughout most of the episodes. ''Invader Zim'' is an American animated science fiction horror comedy television series created by comic book writer and cartoonist Jhonen Vasquez for Nickelodeon. 53rd Primetime Emmy Awards
The 53rd Primetime Emmy Awards were held on Sunday, November 4, 2001, seven weeks later than originally scheduled. The ceremony was rescheduled twice from its original date of September 16 at the Shrine Auditorium because of the September 11th attacks that occurred five days prior to the event.
