Prayagraj (, ; ISO 15919, ISO: ), formerly and colloquially known as Allahabad, is a metropolis in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.The other five cities were: Agra, Kanpur, Kanpur (Cawnpore), Lucknow, Meerut, and Varanasi, Varanasi (Benares). Prayagraj district, formerly known as Allahabad district, is the most populous Districts of Uttar Pradesh, district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Prayagraj city is the district headquarters of this district. The District is divided into blocks within Administrative divisions of India#Sub-districts, tehsils. As of 2011, there are 20 blocks in eight tehsils. Prayagraj Division
Prayagraj division, formerly known as Allahabad division, is one of the 18 administrative geographical units (i.e. division) of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, with the city of Prayagraj being the administrative divisional headquarters. In 2000, when Uttar Pradesh was reorganised by forming Uttaranchal out of its northern areas, Allahabad division and the district was majorly reorganised too. The Etawah, Farrukhabad, Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat districts of the Allahabad division were made into a separate Kanpur division. Parts of the western areas of Allahabad district were carved out to create a new district named Kaushambi. Prayagraj Junction (station code: PRYJ), formerly known as Allahabad Junction, is a railway station on the Howrah-Gaya-Delhi line, Howrah–Delhi main line, Prayagraj–Mau–Gorakhpur main line and Howrah–Prayagraj–Mumbai line. Prayag Junction railway station (station code: PRG) is an important railway station in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. It serves Prayag town in Prayagraj. It consists of three platforms. The NR is developing the neighbouring Prayagraj Sangam station as a coaching terminal. It is designed by architect M K Singh in the year 2018. Prayagraj Chheoki Railway Station
Prayagraj Chheoki Junction railway station, formerly Allahabad Chheoki railway station (station code: PCOI), is one of the major railways stations (besides Prayagraj Junction railway station) located in Prayagraj district. Chheoki is at a distance of 10 km from Prayagraj Junction on the Howrah–Delhi main line. Trains that bypass Prayagraj Junction and which come from Jabalpur and go towards Mughalsarai usually stop at Chheoki. To reduce the load on the main junction, trains were shifted to Chheoki. Chheoki has three platforms that are high-level platforms and one UTS. History The station was constructed to decongest Prayagraj Junction and provide a separate route for trains to southern India and Jabalpur which originate from eastern India and Mughalsarai. A delay of more than 30 minutes for an engine change at Prayagraj is thus avoided.
